Outside of maybe the leaders of the scouts (who only seem like asses when they have to make hard decisions involving the lives of everyone within the walls), none of the main characters are douchebags.

I can't think of anyone in the main cast who is straight up unlikable besides maybe Ymir, since she tends to purposefully antagonize people sometimes. But even then...

I did the same thing, quit watching after S1. I would definitely recommend picking it back up. I don't even know why I bothered trying it again, but S1 is by far the worst season.

Rewatching it, season 1 really is the worst. It mainly suffers from bad pacing. Some episodes spend all its time on a single conversation or situation, or have weirdly placed flashbacks.

Every season after that tightens the pacing and actually gets to the interesting parts of the story.

I thought s2 was the worst. The big reveals were so poorly done. Every season has had really bad pacing imo, and the latest isn't an exception. But the last few episodes have been killer and probably the best the series has ever been.

The newest episodes would legit be a 10/10 for me if they weren't using so much CGI.

It's still a 9/10 for me, but still...

I bowed out in that one scene where they feed that guy his own shit. Nah, dawg.

The reason was that Mikasa had been babying him for, like, the last seven years of his life and he was tired of it. Everyone knew him as the guy who had to be saved by Mikasa.
