Yeah you kinda need to treat the battle system almost like it's the original turn based from FF7. As soon as you empty your ATB bar you should be switching to another character and emptying their bar. It feels like there's about 5-10 seconds before the enemies start targeting your new character after you switch so you can usually dump some skills and then switch to the next char.

Hmm it's been 9 months since I played this, but this doesn't sound right. My memory says the ATB meter goes up really slowly if it's not your active character, right?

Was it always the case that the robed men were all former SOLDIERS? I thought they were failed mako infusion experiments trying to recreate Sephiroth, not actual SOLDIERS that had their bodies break down due to mako exposure.

Well if you build Cloud up to 2 meters (for example) and then spend them both if you transfer to someone else they'll probably have at least 1 meter built just from passive building. So you could build them up to 2 meters (not very hard) and move onto the 3rd character. By the time you get back to Cloud he'll probably have at least a meter built up.

It's been a while since I've played too so I could be misremembering but I did also play through it twice and got the plat trophy.

Chapter 9 floored me. The moment when you switch control to Tifa/Aerith in the Don's mansion (where that totally awesome GIRLS RULE THE WORLD remixed theme starts playing) might be my favorite in the game.

I'm so surprised and thankful Square just GOT IT this much.

Poison has its one niche in that battle. Most bosses are immune, Hell House somehow is not, and it works around Hell House switching its element constantly.

Aerith's reaction is the only different thing. The dance is the same. The trophy pops if you get the best one. There is room to miss some.

Also what I noticed with combat is that the character you control will get ATB like 5-10x faster than others, so you should control the one that needs ATB. If you don't really need ATB on your other chars then it's totally okay to just stay on your main char the whole time. This is also why it's balanced that your controlled character gets attacked mostly. More ATB has more risk.
