I never understood it. Its not their best song by any means, but not meant to be. Its a fun, silly dumbed down party version of Queens We Will Rock You. Ive never heard any specific gripes about this song.

i feel like it's because it's the song most associated with Make Believe, an album which was basically the first time the band completely whiffed

also because it's like offensively bland and repetitive, that plus the lyrics really fed into that whole "Weezer is selling out!" narrative that was gaining rapid traction around the time

but yeah they've written worse songs, hell it's not even the worst single from that album

I remember when it came out the video was pretty funny with all the nerds at the Playboy mansion but it was just a simple, somewhat catchy song. I thought I heard somewhere that originally it was much better and complex but Rivers kept stripping it down.
I don't particularly care for Beverly Hills but my son liked it when he was little and it was cute to see him sing along. What I DEFINITELY don't like is when they played it in concert and how many people got up and danced to it but then left when Rivers said they're gonna play some new songs (right after EWBAITE dropped) . Disrespectful.

I will never understand why people only go to shows to hear the hits. I personally enjoy it when a band plays like an old B-side that comes out of left field, but I would never leave if they play new material. Just defeats the purpose of going to a show.

The song was everywhere and there was nothing interesting about it.

I like it.

I think other people don't because its a song that's almost designed to be a simple catchy anthem, almost like we have to write something that will be an instant mainstream-type single that will get radio play type song.

really fucking hollow and cheap sounding, corny ass lyrics, not even enough enthusiasm in the performance to make it a dumb party jam, i cannot think of a single thing i legitimately enjoy about it. like, the very idea of trying to enjoy it just seems like a drag to me.
