The huge, mostly empty arctic regions of Skyrim, the far reaches in pretty much any direction of BOTW, the smallest and least-content dense settlements in Just Cause 2. Theres something about this quieter areas that I just love more than the bigger, flashier areas. I love poking around placing like that, looking at the little details of the world even when theres rarely any kind of reward or gameplay element in them.

shits chill

I like the tundra fields of Hebra, near the labyrinth. And the cliffs north of Death Mountain, at the edge of the map

I remember in BOTW snowboarding and gliding down a mountain and being stuck near the rocky shore and just...trying to find a way around to somewhere that had stuff. I'm pretty sure I stumbled on a powerful Lynel doing that and it was just so rainy and moody.

I get what you mean.

This was my favorite. Ive never done more than 2 of the Divine Beasts, its just nowhere near as engaging as just existing in and poking around Hyrule.

Theres a number of cabins, bodies, journals, and other assorted crap in Skyrim that are either scraped or unmarked quests and it was often my favorite content in the game; just a one level dungeon with a journal telling briefly of some tragedy or lore-related mishap

I love stuff like that. Little storytelling moments like that in a game.

death stranding is not very good at this because it fills that desolation with very bad writing

I really loved the mountains in RDR2. Went up there to hunt a few legendary animals and it felt truly alone. Also beautiful as all get out.

Thats why I dig it tbh. It just fully allows you to experience its world for what it is. It just looks very nice and is fun to traverse, and thats all it sets out to be.

I should give Death Stranding another shot eventually tho
