Like I get the impression that people mostly enjoy taking showers. They find it to be a pleasant experience. But I can't stand it. I have this weird thing where I just feel gross when I'm wet, especially my hands. And no matter how much I dry off afterwards, I still feel damp and uncomfortable for like an hour after a shower. It's unpleasant, and I can't stand the sensation.

But I DO shower regularly, especially if I'm going out in public anywhere, because I'm not a slob and I know the people around me can smell when I haven't. I also have psoriasis on my scalp and my underarms, which makes it basically impossible for me to wear deodorant (it flares up really bad and gets almost painful if I put anything on my armpits, and believe me I've tried all of them). So yeah, staying clean and reducing BO is an obvious requirement.

So if I plan on leaving the house at any point in the day, I will take a shower. It's just a very unpleasant sensation for me, and I just kinda have to suck it up and deal with it. Am I the only one like this?

I am annoyed by most "grooming" things that have to be done on a regular basis -- shaving, brushing teeth, showering, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I do them regularly, brushing twice a day, nail clipping, shower, all that shit. I just don't like doing it.

This. I'm also balding and shave my head, and have a lot of body hair and facial hair as well. I groom myself more like every 2-3 days, but still pretty monotonous.

Yeah, shaving is another one. It doesn't give me the same 'gross' sensation, but it is just really annoying. I've been getting pretty lazy about it lately, too. Especially since I'm wearing a mask whenever I leave the house anyway, so you can't really even see it. It's a catch-22, though. The longer I wait before shaving, the more annoying the shave becomes with the longer hairs. >_<

I can't stand putting on clothes when I feel wet and need to get to work. I don't know how folks do it.

Guys, you really shouldn't be showering twice a day unless you're getting actively sweaty from work and/or working out.

I am the total opposite and a lot of times I just run my hands under the sink real quick because they are dry. I very often just stand in the shower not doing anything. I love it.

I actually dislike showering because it's such a time sink, but I have to take one everyday cuz I deal with chemicals and stuff at work.

My wife is the opposite though. She doesn't mind showering but she's also really lazy so she only takes like once a week

To the others who don't like it, does it also bother you to go swimming? Does it make a difference if it's a pool or a natural body like a lake or an ocean?

It's weird for me. I feel gross the whole time during and after the shower. But if I go swimming, I feel fine and thoroughly enjoy it while I'm in the pool and fully immersed in the water. It's only once I get out and want to be dry that I start getting that uncomfortable sensation.

I like it. It's far more enjoyable than something like shaving. I have body hair and sweat through out the day and I will smell. I can' stand the thought of not shaving for more than a day and going out. I smell bad and I feel dirty. With a shower, you get clean and you smell nice. No need for me to wear cologne..

I hate showering twice a day though (if I go for a run for example during the evening), because it makes my hair dull.. and I don't like the idea of wasting water.

Showering can be a time sink and you can waste a ton of water fast if you aren't careful and feel too relaxed. The trick is to use cold enough water you can tolerate, and as soon as you get your scalp wet, shampoo it.. and then body wash. You can get done in 5 minutes easily.

Going to the bathroom in general can be a time sink. Probably a good idea to not bring your phone with you and read news while you take a dump before going to work..

Thinking it over, the fact that pets shake themselves dry indicates that wet feels uncomfortable. On the other hand drying off with a thirsty towel feels good.
