I literally did this 2 months ago. My great aunt died and her daughter (father's cousin) really wanted me to be one. I politely declined but I knew she was upset because she likes me a lot. But I never wanted to do that again unless it was my own mother. I already did it for my gran and found it very stressful. As it turned out, one of the guys she chose (one of great aunt's nephews who's also a big shot) bailed after the service. In hindsight it was probably for the best because he showed up at church looking like drunken street trash. This guy is rich mind you. So I still ended up doing it in the end when they were at the gravesite looking for the last guy to carry the coffin. Me and cousin had a laugh about it afterwards and that's the only time she was happy that day.
