tl;dr: Half of a OoT demo ROM from Spaceworld 1997 was found on an F-Zero X dev cart. Contains stuff like whistling grass for Epona like in Twilight Princess, different areas that were cut, a beta map screen, and the cut magic spells that would've originally have been from using medallions as items, among other stuff

From the text, there's weird stuff about events in the game. Like originally Link was gonna rescue trapped fairies inside the Deku Tree, and eventually you'll find a "different fairy" and that fairy becomes your Navi >_>

Also, the Desert Colossus statue is supposed to be modeled after Din

Fun Fact: In the N64 version, you can still see the Fire Medallion icon in the Shadow Temple entrance where you're supposed to use Din's Fire. The Fire Medallion was originally gonna be an item to use that would work like Din's Fire before it got replaced, but that icon is still leftover from it.

Also Forest and Water Temple were supposed to be Wind and Ice Temples, which you can see reminents of that in Ganon's Tower during the trials. Hence why the Forest (Wind) Medallion was gonna act like Farore's Wind

The word after Lon Lon is pronounced gyuunyuu. It means cowmilk. I've never played Zelda so I don't know what its supposed to be but the Katakana is ron ron.

Thank you! The localized version has always called the ranch in the game "Lon Lon" and you get the item "Lon Lon Milk" from there. I've never been sure why they went with Lon Lon instead of Ron Ron other than one of them sounds like a man's name in English lol

Cuz L's and R's are interchangeable in Japanese. I don't even know the language but my basic weeb knowledge knows that >_> come on man lol

Probably because Ron spoken by a Japanese person sounds more similiar to an English speaker saying Lon. The tongue touches the alvelor ridge to pronounce Ron in japanese.

I know that. I meant generally how localizers decide whether to change it to an "L" or "R" sound. Like, there's an anime I like with a character whose name in katakana is "" and it's been localized as "Loropechika." I assume in that case they ask the original author what their intent was.

I mean, my username is based off the way you write "Link" in katakana lol

Oh, that's interesting. I've always read that the Japanese "R" isn't really like an English "R" and that it sounds like it's between an English "L" and "R" though I suppose that's a very anglophone way to view it...

So apparently it doesn't seem like the rom is playable because too much of it is overwritten from F-Zero X. Plus there doesn't seem to be any beta music or sound effects either. However people are able to import the maps to OoT to "play" them >_>
