there's so little individual impact that in comparison even LoL/Dota feel like they were fully in my control in hindsight

i've steadily climbed from bronze to platinum so far, goal is to hit diamond this season but the percentage of unwinnable games is just ludicrous compared to other esports

DPS dont really impact the game all that much besides maybe 2 or 3 of them. Tanks and Supports impact the game much more

i feel the most impact on tank personally, people seem clueless about how to play them so it's fun to force a tank diff every time i queue it. then again i'm equally low-plat on tank and dps.
i don't touch support, just not my thing. hell, most people i meet only play one role at all, so for me to play two equally is already ahead of the pack. *shrug*

The problem has always been that Tanks have always been disproportionally powerful damage wise. In the season I finally quit for good, Zarya was legit the best DPS in the game that wasn't even classified as a DPS (Widow had just fallen out of favor because of Shieldcreep nonsense). Not sure how DPS fare nowadays, but back then it was nigh impossible to kill shit unless you had insta kill potential (Widowmaker). They introduced Brigitte and it turned the pace of the game from fast to literal slog because Pre-Team fight Rally was absolute bullshit and it took them WAY too long to fix that. And by the time they did they had already introduced the likes of Sigma and yet another crazy strong Healer. >_>

it only really mattered at the highest ranks, which i have no intention (nor probably the potential) to reach anyway in this particular game. overwatch feels like a casual shooter that's been slowly, incrementally retrofitted to be a competitive title, and top-tier gameplay looks extremely foreign to the ladder experience due to the frankly unnatural level of teamwork required and complete lack of macro play. almost every game at that point is a matter of leaping onto micro-errors on the enemy team, which tells me the skill cap of the game is relatively low and the only way to climb past a certain point is to bash your head on that ceiling until it gives a couple inches.

Good, I always told people that high ranks were fucking lame to play in. ESPECIALLY Mid Masters, which is the true Elo-hell.

I still love Overwatch and play it once in a while, but they have a bad habit of breaking the game every time a new character is released.

They make the kits of newer characters too loaded, and often times too good, to the unfortunate result that the older characters with simpler kits are punished.
