*as bad as we thought anyway.

He was hired by a media company as private security for the media company staff and their shit. He had legitimate credentials but they weren't valid for the place he was trying to go. Essentially he basically just went to the wrong place and was turned away appropriately. The only real crime he committed was the firearm he had wasn't properly registered. This literally only made the news at all because of 1/6.

Why did he deny having 500 rounds of ammunition in the car?

As his credential was being checked, another officer noted bumper stickers on the truck that read, Assault Life and If they come for your guns give em your bullets first, police said.

After removing Beeler from the truck, officers found that the firearm, a 9mm handgun, was loaded with a high-capacity magazine and 17 rounds of ammunition and that the pistol was chambered and ready to fire, court document said

dude might not be part of the capitol storm but he seems like a nut to me

  1. It was a F-150 which is a pretty big truck.
  2. Ammo is small and you don't need a big box to carry around 500 rounds.

It's perfectly reasonable to assume he's telling the truth and his entire story checks out.

Maybe I'm blind but I don't see anything in that article from yesterday saying he actually worked for a security agency? Or the statement that he forgot the ammunition was there?

Here you go

Employer:

Beeler said he was given a credential by his employer, MVP Protective Services. A man who answered a phone number connected with MVP said, Unfortunately, at this time I am not authorized to speak, when reached by a reporter Saturday evening.

Ammo:

Police said they also found more than 500 rounds of pistol ammunition, including hollow-point bullets. Nearly two dozen shotgun shells were located in plain sight in the rear cargo area of the vehicle, the court documents said.

Beeler said he recalls having only the loaded firearm and the shotgun shells in his vehicle.

It was just me forgetting to take it out of my truck before I left for work. I dont know what the D.C. laws are. It still comes back on me, but Im not a criminal, he said.

They didn't deny him being an employee which they would have done if he was lying about it. It's just good legal practice to otherwise give no comment to the press for any reason. Lawyers don't have to prove anything to the press only to courts.

Thankfully we havent seen any media security open fire on protesters recently so theres no way this could be bad.

By all accounts this guy had no ties to any right wing extremists beyond being a general gun nut and was there to do a legitimate job protecting the press who have been regularly assaulted during these protests.

Armed security needs to know the laws and regs better then the average person, they can be in a real bind if they get into trouble with police as this guy did.

The employee is on the hook for the unregistered firearm. He doesn't need an employer to tell him that's illegal.

The employer probably should have told him not to pack a box of hollow points though.

But the only thing he's actually in trouble the anyway is the gun registration.
