Current Events > Anyone play Fallout 76? It's a lot better than I thought.

Granted I had zero hope for it (I couldn't finish Fallout 4, despite New Vegas being one of my faves), and granted I am playing with the friend that got me into Fallout in the first place so we're just riding the "multiplayer fallout" high together, but it's not bad!

I wish I knew some things before I started, like SPECIAL capping at 15 and points at 50, and me and my friend aren't paying as much attention to the lore and stuff I would a regular Fallout game but still, good fun to be had in co-op.

Nuclear Winter also is kinda fun! Seriously considering getting Fallout 1st...convince me not to, please.

Yes I play it regularly. It's actually pretty good. 1st is only useful really for the infinite junk stash box and the atoms imo. Also near the end of this month the stash is getting doubled in space for free.

I've tried to get into it a few times but not having anyone to play with makes it just feel really aimless and slow. I think if I had a group maybe it'd be more fun idk.

Also I recommend you do pay attention to the lore and stuff. It's very good and well done, probably better than Fallout 4 in that regard overall. Also if you haven't manage your quest log or it will get out of hand real fast and take up a lot of space on your screen.

Yeah it's hard when I play with my friend. He just wants to blow through everything like it's borderlands.

Got it a few months ago, and time just flies when I'm playing it. Level 68 right now, and think I'm finally nearing the
"end" of the main quest. Avoiding all the BoS stuff and not trying real hard to do wastelanders stuff. I just have a bad habit of getting easily distracted when trying to do a mission. Something new will pop up and I follow that thread instead.

My current gripe is getting a lack of legendary equipment that is useful for what I'm doing. Haven't really upgraded any of my gear since level 50 or so. Spending points on armor, I kept getting body and leg pieces, never a single piece of arm gear. Worst thing is that one of my legs is wooden armor, so the defense sucks and it is always breaking. But the +1 luck is nice for activating crit perks, it makes me invisible when I get hit in melee, and the reduction of weight from food/drink/chems is worth it's weight in gold to my packrat habit. (let's just say I realized i was carrying around 20 pounds of canned dogfood alone at 0.25 weight each)

I started playing when it was released on Gamepass with the Wastelanders update.

I quite enjoyed it. Getting started can be a bit rough, since you can easily find yourself starved for resources like water, food, ammo and materis to repair your equipment. Not going to lie, I used a few guides to farm for some materials and get myself started on producing some myself (clean water, food/meals) and the best tip I got (and I can recommend for everyone) is buying a scrapbot from the atom store to help with other resource management.

Haven't played the latest update yet, Brotherhood of Steel, but apparantly it's really good.

Overall the game is fun and enjoyable, but I'll also be honest and admit that I have no idea hiw it compare to the launch version. However, if you are getting into the game now, I'd say it is worth your time.

The various gathering bots on the Atom Store are CAMP items you place and they'll just wander around gathering relevant materials. It's basically like a resource extractor in how it operates, you go back to collect what it's gathered now and then at your camp.

Also if you're 50+ don't forget about Legendary Perks. One's I'd recommend are the Infiltrator one which gives you default +3 Lockpicking and Hacking so you don't need to use the single normal cards ever again. There's one that lets you craft more ammo too which stacks with the Ammosmith perk so you can get crazy numbers. There's also one that automatically cures RADS slowly and gives you a lot of rad resistance.

A rough order of the main story is the default main story --> Wastelanders stuff --> BoS stuff.

Once you place one you can set what you want it to look for (ammo, junk, chems, etc) and then it walks around filling it's deposit.

I tried getting into it recently, I bought it at launch and abandoned it, figured I may as well give it another shot. I love fallout games, fallout 3 is a top all time game for me. I still can't get into 76.. something about it. I just can't place it but it still doesn't draw me in.
