as do I actually.

i live in a constant state of low grade pain from old injuries. long story. there's plenty of physical decline endgame scenarios i can adapt to and will put up a good fight.

but there's also the specter of Dementia/Alzheimer's/Schizophrenia in my family on both sides and that's the one scenario where i...choose my own exit on my own terms if you get my meaning.

FFVIII was my first FF so I've always had a soft spot for it. IX is my favorite though.

Dementia runs in my family so every time I don't remember something (I don't remember a lot of my childhood) it scares me guys stop reminding me.

It's funny. The older I get the more I like FFVII and the more I hate FFIX.

8 just stays being mediocre. The game would be better if you did not fight enemies. It has a battle system so bad that it brings down every other part of the game.

Its certainly one of the games that did better with age, imo. The story is probably the most personal in all the series as well

ff8 is my least favorite of the best ffs (ff6 to ff10) back when i was younger, mostly becase the junctions was too confusing to me.
it moved up after i finally replayed it, being a SeeD is fucking cool, i just wish it is possible to switch to a uniform.

I'm sure you'd put those seasons higher than FFVIII though? Or actually lower?

I mean I at least enjoyed some things in the last few seasons, and the latest season was almost good until the finale came and went "lol nope."

I watched my brother play all the 3D Final Fantasy games back then. FF8 just happened to click with me more.

I now have the whole 3D collection for the Switch and I started with FF8 first.

Honestly, I recently played through it again for the first time in about 20 years and really enjoyed it. Granted, I was playing the HD version so I could do things like speed up battles, which made the grind of drawing spells much more manageable.

I kinda liked FFVIII at the time (although it was clearly a weaker entry), but in hindsight the game just seems worse and worse.

FFVIII is probably my favorite. It is the only FF game I have beaten more than twice (and only one of four I have beaten more than once). Now I fully admit the story is the drizzling shits, if Squall was on fire I wouldn't waste the urine putting him out. Besides, he would probably just say "whatever" and burn to death showing no emotion whatsoever anyways.

But everything else about the game I love. Even the Junction system. ESPECIALLY the Junction system.

Junction system is cool in the sense it's fun to see which magics pair up with what attributes. I feel like a small bit of that is lost when you've played before and know what goes with what. I remember before I knew a lot of stuff seeing ???? in enemy draw lists always made me excited. Plus being able to draw some GFs from enemies, too.

If just finished the second remaster on Steam and while is was a slog at the end (to get the achievements)....... ...

...I kinda wanna play it again :V

VIII is definitely one of the weaker entries. It had great premise but it really was a complete slog to get through. Only a few of the characters are any good so that doesn't help. I don't know what people honestly see in it. Decent, but weak. 9, 7, 10 are all better. And 10 is barely better than 8.

I still hold that 8 only makes sense if Squall dies at the end of disc one the same way ST: Voyager only makes sense if Janeway is bipolar and Tuvok and the EMH are covering her condition the entire time.
