Christ Stirewalt and a couple dozen other Fox News people related to their decision desk have been let go.

Current theory is that Fox is preparing to move even further back to the rigtht and is cleaning house of anybody that could come under fire from from die-hards, so people related to the early Arizona call are being let go.

Just my own theories here, but my guess is that Fox does not actually see Newsmax and OAN to be legitimate, long term competition. As such, their goal is to suck all those people back to Fox, while keeping the regular right wing base as well since those people don't believe they have an alternative.

I think them cutting an hour of news and replacing it with another hour of opinions reflects this as well.

I dunno, the affluent "Orange County, CA" Republicans aren't that numerous compared to these angry, non-college educated Trumpers. From a strictly business point of view, I think Fox News is making the right move by pivoting further to crackpotism and abandoning whatever pretense of journalism they may have been pretending to peddle.

I honestly shudder at what the "new" Fox News will become. Consider that any new opinion host they bring aboard is gonna try to outdo Hannity/Tucker...

In raw numbers, there are definetly more Trumpers than Country Club Republicans.

That being said, raw numbers are not how television networks make money. They make money selling ads, and if Fox News goes full OANN/Newsmax, they are going to have trouble selling them. OC Republicans might be smaller in number, but if they are more perceived as more upmarket, Fox News can get more money from advertisers with less viewers (how much less if the question.)
