I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.
His language throughout his speech is irresponsible when you've got a following full of idiots like the Q movement, but that doesn't much sound like he's actively calling for violence. But it's definitely irresponsible and reckless when you know your base is already riled up and all it takes is a handful of people to do something stupid and mob mentality takes over.

But I'm glad to see our corrupt congress can get this done within days, though, after letting americans go hungry for almost a year now. They couldn't give a shit to protect us but they'll save their own asses in a hurry. If anything, this will only make things worse. The mass censoring and impeachment are just gonna make these people feel validated and I'm betting that all this is doing is stoking the flames even more. Hopefully not.

I'm really hoping that this transition will go on peacefully. More violence and rioting won't accomplish anything except more bloodshed and would serve as an excuse for more authoritian power grabs like the patriot act. This country has major problems that aren't going away, though, and it seems like nobody has the answers

Those same banks and corporations you were shouting at during OWS as the literal devil you're now felating because they're leik totally pwning the people you don't like.

Remember this when the pendulum swings.

You can't spend twenty minutes telling people over and over that he and they were robbed, that the election was a fraud, that they need to fight for their rights, that they need to march, that they can't take no for an answer, that they can't be weak, and that they are losing their rights, and then at the very end slip in "peacefully" to try and have something to point to when people call you on inciting a riot.

No. Absolutely unforgivable. I'll repeat this again. His speech should have been absolutely nothing other than "I'm sorry I have said things regarding election fraud that were untrue. I have lost this election and would like to congratulate President-Elect Biden and wish him well, and I encourage you all to do the same. Thank you for your support."

That is it. That's all that should have been said.

There were several people speaking at that event before Trump, that did use more incendiary language. Trump is directly responsible for what some of them said, just by not calling them out for it when he spoke after them. People like his son Trump Jr. and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

I've been led to believe for my entire life that gridlock is The Way when it comes to legislation. "We need to pass it to see what's in it" type shit.

But in my lifetime, I've also seen PATRIOT 1 and this second Impeachment railroad thru in ftl speed by congress's standards.

There's a bigger picture here and it makes me sick. :face_vomiting:

Our legislature took 8 months to pass a second stimulus. Our grandkids are still going to paying for the gender studies programs in Afghanistan that it took to get the last one thru.

But you want to me to believe that spanking Trump again was an existential crisis so great that it outweighed everything short of Al Qeida? Not the millions of constituents that can't work, pay rent, or feed their kids?

My anger isn't at "daring to take a stunning and brave stance against Darth Donald", it's at our legislature twice in my fucking lifetime actually tipping their hand and showing how fucking fast they CAN move when it means the constituents get fucked.

TARP belongs on the Warp speed list too.

We already live in a corporate dystopia, and those responsible are now given a free pass because they're on "your side" now.

The economy never recovered from 2008, and we've been living in a false vacuum ever since.

But this IS the corporate dystopia at this point when the banks are "too big to fail", and the town square can be turned off unless you plan in 2021 to physically nail your manifesto to the to the town square IRL to the notice of literally nobody.

You all laughed when it happened to Alex Jones.

Regardless of your opinions on trans-dimentional shape shifting lizard people and gay frogs, this was the canary in the coal mine.

Now private corporations and banks have literally unpersoned a sitting POTUS. You're all caught up so fucking hard in OMB that you're incapable of seeing the bigger picture.

I'm going to laugh my ass off when the pendulum inevitably swings and those with short memories have no idea what they're looking at.

He looked at an armed mob of angry supporters, many outfitted for battle, and told them to go and FIGHT at the capitol. That is literally what he did.

He gathered them there, he told them what to do, and then he set them loose. He will be held accountable.

I honestly think youre right on that.

To a LOT of people, the perception is going to be that Congress can't pass a worthwhile Covid stimulus bill for months (and then wind up stuffing it with tons of extraneous and harmful bullshit when it DOES pass), but they can rush through an Impeachment vote on someone who's going to be out of office in two weeks anyway. That may not be the actual reality of things, but it's going to be how people see it.

That's going to stir resentment even in people who aren't already polarized to the extreme. And the people who are will absolutely take it as proof that they were right all along.

That means nothing when you compare it to the american governments' budget, the pension is roughly 200k a year. The US government had a revenue of $3.46 trillion last year (according to this random website https://www.thebalance.com/current-u-s-federal-government-tax-revenue-3305762).
That's roughly 0.0000000578% of the federal budget.
That doesn't account for anything.

Even Trump supporters have to stand back and say enough is enough. The guy lost the election and although he still insists that he lost due to voter fraud, there isn't enough evidence to suggest that but when GOP candidates lose and yelp about voter fraud, what they mean is the votes of Black people don't count therefore it's fraudulent and that's why we see the voter rolls of Black people purged and erased.

This all goes back to the 1960s when Richard Nixon began to court racist Southern politicians in what was known as the "Southern Strategy" in which the GOP made a conscious effort to run feature campaigns not on issues but on race baiting and that's what we have had since the mid to late 1960s onward. Reagan did it by maligning Black single moms as welfare queens, and Nixon did by starting a phony "War On Drugs" that was aimed at Black people to get felony convictions which then would result in those people losing their right to vote and we know this because Nixon is on a WH recording admitting as much.

The Southern politicians back then were upset that VR and CR Acts were passed because they knew that stranglehold that they had held on the South since the end of the Civil War and Jim Crow was now in jeopardy because Black people in the South wouldn't vote for them.

The capital was already being breached and the ex head of the dc police was calling for national guard 5 minutes before trump was even done speaking. He totally can't be held responsible for people taking action on his behalf over a lie he created and repeated.

I've already seen the legal eagle video, yea Trump can't get a criminal conviction on incitement, but he can absolutely be impeached for for this. He refused to send in the national guard for hours.
