idk about that. My taste is pretty narrow, too. I was looking at other lists online (billboard, stereogum, rolling stone) and I missed a lot that seem to be huge. I didn't listen to Bad Bunny or Ariana Grande's albums, for example. And I listened to Charli XCX and Hasley, but I can't vibe.

hmm idk if i would call Views a huge miss, but Scorpion had two or three gems on it and was much better than Views IMO.

Dark lane demo tapes was enough to tide me over till the next project though, especially during lockdown.

1) DISCO - Kylie Minogue
2) Miss Anthropocene - Grimes
3) Melanie C - Melanie C
4) Chromatica - Lady GaGa
5) GRAPHITE - The Anix
6) Diamonds - The Birthday Massacre
7) Harmonic Disruptor - Julien-K

Miss Anthropocene was my fav for nearly the whole year then Kylie came in hot to snatch it at the end. Her best album in years. Melanie C (aka the one talented Spice Girl) also delivered. Lady Gaga also came in hot but her album doesn't age well imo. The ones above it have staying power I haven't gotten tired of DISCO and have been listening non stop for weeks. Birthday Massacre would usually be higher on my lists but this new album is nowhere as good as the previous one. Same for The Anix and Julien-K.

Best song out of all of them is Violence by Grimes which is my #1 song this year and definitely her best track. Been listening to this since February and it still bangs. It was actually supposed to be on her next album but she moved it up. If that's anything to go by her next set is going to be something else.

I'd have to go check what released this year but I know the new IDLES 'Ultra Mono' is up there

Oh and Aesop Rock 'Spirit World Field Guide'

Oh again - not sure if the 'Raging Wrath...' re-release from Mr Bungle counts. Believe they re-recorded the whole thing but technically the music is decades old

I think the only new thing I listened to this year and liked was that new John Foxx record. It's harder for me to find good new stuff because the radio generally only plays the worst kind of new music. So I basically only listen to what old people put out that I already know.

Yeah I know Nightwish. They're in that boat of metal bands with female leads right. I prefer Lacuna Coil and Leaves' Eyes. Well the latter released a new album this year too but the lead singer changed so I wasn't feeling it. And LC would have been in my top 3 but their last album came out at the end of last year so they missed the cut. Was their best music in a long time.

Here is a top 20 I did write ups for. It is missing King Buffalo - Dead Star since they consider it an EP and the latest Samsara Blues Experiment, which came out too late in the year for my list, but probably would of been top 5. Probably not in line with a lot of people on this boards tastes.

1 Elder - Omens
2 All Them Witches - Nothing as the Ideal
3 Pallbearer - Forgotten Days
4 Sleepwulf - Sleepwulf
5 Spirit Adrift - Enlightened in Eternity
6 Lowrider - Refractions
7 Wayfarer - A Romance with Violence
8 Vinnum Sabbathi - Of Dimensions and Theories
9 Brant Bjork - Brant Bjork
10 Lucifer - III
11 Elephant Tree - Habits
12 Huntsmen - Mandala of Fear
13 Forming the Void - Reverie
14 Dopelord - Sign of the Devil
15 Enslaved - Utgard
16 The Atomic Bitchwax - Scorpio
17 Bone Church - Acid Communion
18 Mr Bungle - The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo
19 Psychlona - Venus Skytrip

Diabulus in Musica - Euphonic Entropy

The Ozzy Osbourne album was OK, but nothing I wanted to listen to more then once. Also, I would love to say I liked the new Smashing Pumpkins album since they are my favorite band, but honestly I only really liked the song "Wyttch", the rest of the album is completely forgettable.

Hell yeah, always love the annual Melo album list topic. Almost missed it. Have you listened to The Microphones in 2020 @MrMelodramatic ? I seem to recall you really liking Mount Eerie, but I might be misremembering.

Made this the other day on https://www.neverendingchartrendering.org/ of my top 50 of the year, since I pretty much have caught up to everything I have wanted to check out. Figure i'll just post it instead of typing out my top 25/50 whatever. Plus then you can see all the album art.
