Board 8 > How many hours on your average workday do you spend browsing or gaming?

If your job involves those things, it doesn't count for what I'm asking.

My new job (if anyone remembers that one topic, I got the job!) involves about 2 hours of downtime every morning, and I wonder how common that is.

I know service workers aren't so lucky, but can like, accountants and lawyers get away with it? Or does being salaried mean you just want to get your work done and get home?

i do call center IT work so if i'm not getting a call I don't have too much to do. so I'm pretty much always gaming. even on calls sometimes, lol

I work in an IT department in a very small rural town... Not much goes on here, so I'm probably the most active at work. I hate it.

I think most office workers probably spend at least 30 minutes a day doing things like reading the news

I drive for most of my work day, so not much of an opportunity for me.

I work from home doing technical support. I'd say 4-5 hours of my shift is just browsing the internet but I don't play games because it would get interrupted by calls too often.

Like, today... the majority of my workday I was browsing GameFAQs/Discord or something.

Back when we had to work in the office, 0 hours.

Define browsing. I mean, I play YouTube videos on my phone so I have some chatter going on in my ear, but I'm not generally browsing unless I think of something I want answered before I forget about it. That's usually served with a quick Google search and maybe a couple of minutes of reading.

In this context, I'd define browsing as "using the internet for non-work reasons".

My new job is so sweet.

I work for a chain of car dealerships as their only IT guy, which means I get to drive to the dealerships, fix problems, then drive back to my office to play games until the next ticket, lol.
