was talking to my friend about side quests in the new Assassins Creed being weird, then got to thinking about how there have been so many open world games with so many side quests now it must be very difficult to come up with anything new

then I thought about how many times Ive encountered secret cannibals in games. The first time was probably Fallout 3, and it was pretty cool then

then last year there was Outer Worlds, and I could see it coming from a mile away.

and Red Dead 2 (?) has them

im sure there are more.

Both Fallout 3 and New Vegas have them too. The quest around them in New Vegas is quite good I would say.

There was the White Glove Society in Fallout: New Vegas, though I'm not sure how secret they were given that you could hear rumors about it before you actually found it out.

It's been a while, but the way I remember it was that they had the reputation for being cannibals before being "reformed" by Mr. House. It was an open secret kind of deal, since the collective memory of New Vegas seems to be shorter than that point, but it's probably very likely that the other tribes that were reformed knew very well what the White Glove Society was like and passed it down.
