Hot DANG what a great game. Thank you to whoever recommended it so hard in the PSN Plus topic cause I had a blast playing this gem. Man I was LIVID when it almost beat FFXV in the contest, and while I would still vote for FFXV because I love that game, I at least get why it was close now. I am not and indie guy at all and most acclaimed indie games I've tried haven't hit the spot but this sure as heck did. Also not a big metroidvania guy so as you can imagine I was quite skeptical going in. But once I started getting power-ups it was tons of fun. The combat is soooooo smooth and smashing up bugs is a great time.

Game completion was 48% but I expect that to go up a lot. Definitely not putting it down yet. Hardest boss in the main game was the Watcher Knights and most annoying enemy was Soul Twister imo but the giant jellyfish is a jerk too

Sad I never did all the extra bosses/DLC for this game, but on the other hand it would have taken me a long time to get good enough to do it and I had other other games/shows that I wanted to be spending my time on.

Really fantastic game. Definitely do all the non-DLC endings if you haven't done those. Favorite fight was probably Mantis Lords but there's a lot of good ones.

I'm kinda in the same boat too, I beat it last week but I've continued playing to get the trophies. The platinum is gonna be brutal for this game but it's pretty fun to play. Gameplay is slick and the art style is really cool.

This. Hollow Knight was my 2nd favorite game of the 2010s, and stands firmly as one of my top 20 favorites of all time.

Completely agree. Nothing even came close for me, other than maybe the third colosseum event if you want to count that.

HK was my top game for 2020 titles played, out of 66 total. Everything about the game is amazing. The graphics, the music, the atmosphere the two create, the fluidity of the combat, the sense of exploration, the general awe and wonder of playing the game. My write-up for the game had a bold claim that Hollow Knight does everything Super Metroid did, and does it better. It's simply a masterpiece. I don't know if it's my favorite game out of everything I played in the last decade or even the last year, simply because I tend to ensconce myself in titles that can be played for hundreds of hours and that it's virtually impossible to wring every last drop from any quicker, but objectively speaking, it's easily #1.

I had a ridiculously hard time with the 3rd colosseum event. Easily the thing I had most trouble with that I actually finished, and I think I did everything other than the Godmaster and Grimm Troupe DLC. (Though I did do the first Grimm fight and the first I think 2 pantheons in Godhome)

I guess I never did Path of Pain either but I don't really care for the platforming challenges too much.

Yay! Glad you liked it so much, I share all your thoughts. And it sounds like there's a ton of cool stuff you haven't done yet so good luck with the rest and be careful not to be spoiled, finding things yourself is so satisfying in this game!

My hardest boss was (don't click MZero, not sure if you've done it yet) NMK Grimm (didn't face him til the pantheons as I took the other route ingame) but I never finished the Godmaster stuff so haven't tried the true toughest.

Really? I thought i was starting over each time. But at the end of the day i don't have the patience to throw myself at a brick wall over and over like i used to, it's why i never finished ds3 dlc or sekiro either.

It's possible you need to reach a certain checkpoint, but yeah, I definitely ran back in and was visibly further along in the fight when it began anew.

I find a lot of Hollow Knight's difficulty to be far overstated, but Godmaster is some legitimate testicle pulverizing difficulty. Like, jesus dude. Part of me loves that they went so crazy with it since HK's combat is great and absolutely deserves to be pushed to the limit, but man those limits are frightening.

I generally didn't think the main game was too hard. I had to try a lot of the bosses several times but the only one that really felt "hard" was maybe Radiance. I spent a lot of time on Failed Champion I guess but I also tried that fight somewhat earlier than I needed to.

The DLC though is another story. And I guess within main-game optional content I already said I had a lot of trouble with Trial of the Fool.

played some more, and now I'm up to 59%. Found all three Nail Arts (didn't even though they existed before I beat the game, lol) and apparently I'm now King of Hallownest

I finally encountered those Primal Aspids I've heard so much about, but I didn't think they were that bad. The giant Hoppers were so much worse imo

I didn't know Kingdom's Edge existed until after I beat the game and bought the map from the shop in Dirtmouth. Same with Howling Cliffs, so I never went to either of those areas.

Speaking of which, I stumbled into the place the grubs stay for the first time since rescuing one and got absolutely showered with geo and goodies. Then I beat the Warrior's Trial. Current percentage is 62%

yeah I just beat the game earlier this month and I was thinking about going for the platinum... got up to like 108% completion or something before checking what exactly I still had to do and realizing that even if I could ever beat the Godmaster thing, it sounded like it would be an unpleasant ordeal

the first couple Godmaster trial things I did took like ten minutes each, so this last one that would be all of them combined but harder would probably take over half an hour per attempt and end with a harder version of a boss I already struggled with... no thanks

It's entirely possible to avoid the Primal Aspids on the way to beating the Hollow Knight. They only show up in the wild in Kingdom's Edge, and even if you enter there you could miss them entirely if you take the first exit back to City of Tears/RW/AB.

One of the many many things that impressed me with the game is how I thought I'd been pretty thorough wandering around the world, but I later discovered multiple full regions I'd never even visited until after beating HK.

Lol I did the same thing, I'd completely forgotten about that place and just wandered in wondering what the heck was going on.

I wish we could get a sense of what exactly you have/haven't done so far, the game is so open that there's early bosses you could've missed entirely or lategame stuff you've already done!

Personally I did Kingdom's Edge pretty early, came in from the south west after going from Deepnest to Basin. I can see how MZero missed it though.

The areas I remember missing entirely before beating HK are Queen's Gardens, The Hive, and The Abyss if you want to count that. And White Palace of course. Took me forever to find the entrance to The Hive, I could see its walls but had no idea how to get inside. Also somehow Flukemarm was one of the very last bosses I found, there was a ??? in Godshome and I traced it back there lol.
