I like how they justify the turn-based combat in that Ichi is a Dragon Quest fanboy.

it's a better dragon quest than dragon quest 11

not particularly hard or deep, but the brawler aspects of yakuza have always been a backseat to the storytelling and worldbuilding anyways

if i had played it last year, it'd definitely be my goty 2020

One thing that kinda bugs about Kimetsu no Yokai is that the mangaka makes some of the guys look way too feminine. I thought the Mist Pillar was supposed to be a woman in his first few appearances until a later chapter explicitly mentions the gender... and then even after I'm look at the eyes, face, and hairstyle and thinking he looks way more like a chick than Inosuke and Inosuke's looks are supposed to be a gag.

Oh, and some of these fights drag on way too long. It'd be nice to run into a shonen where you don't have fights spanning 10 or 15 chapters at times. It's not DBZ-boring levels of fighting, but it gets dull fast.

I really should, considering every time I go to remember the name I bungle it. I have the same problem with You Will Hear the Voice of the Dead's Japanese name >_>

I always stop to wonder if people will know what I mean when I use the English name, but I guess if I'm butchering the Japanese name it comes down to the same issue.

Kind of odd to me that demon slayer is translated like it is. I always thought demon slayer was referencing the people that are slaying demons but that japanese title makes me think it's referencing main guys black sword. Kimetsu = oni destruction, yaiba = blade so a direct translation would be blade of oni destruction. Also strange to me when they decide to translate oni as demon or devil. Since it's usually devil the series would be called devil slayer.

This is my biggest problem with the series. The mangaka made some of these demons too hard to kill. And not even like a powerlevel thing where they are just so far above the heroes that they seem invincible. No, they're more annoying than anything else. With gimmicks that keep them around after they've been repeatedly outclassed by the heroes using good teamwork. Especially the Red District fight with that girl and her bro. Thought that shit wouldn't end.

Just watched the 1st movie of Heaven's Feel route of Fate.

Gorgeous movie, though word of warning to anyone looking to watch it......

I would highly suggest rewatching Unlimited Blade Works before getting into this one.
I say this as someone who had no trouble following Fate:Zero before seeing FSN.
Theres just too many core events we kind of see in fast forward that take place in the movie.

Inspired me to rewatch Isekai Shokudou. Finished up Irregular s2 and only have Golden Kamuy s3 planned to watch for this last season, so it'll be a nice break. A couple of other shows from last season I'll probably get around to watching, but not right now.

The only Fate stuff I know and played is the OG eroge VN, and Fate/Extra on the PSP.

I certainly don't consider myself a Fate fan, despite liking both experiences. I feel like I should know more about the side lore stuff if I want to really get into the fandom.

At this point it's very far removed from that shit, though, and Nintendo isn't exactly Disney. The bigger -- and more relevant -- reason might be the fact that the franchise isn't big enough among their audience while also not being able to channel nostalgia.

Nobody knows what it is.
So far it appears to be about an hikikomori girl who had her friend commit suicide from being bullied in school and and now she's out to "save" her by saving the souls of other kids that that have committed suicide. How the different scenes are cut together makes it seem like something is going on, like the girl is insane, or the series isn't taking place in reality, or something.

Watched episode 3 of horimiya. I am enjoying it but it's pretty narrowly skirting the line between romance drama and melodrama. I'm very concerned that with 9 episodes left and their relationship progressed as far as it has that it's going to end being very frustrating and annoying. There's basically nothing to any of the characters outside of their relationship with each other so I don't know how else they could fill up the rest of the episodes.

Shit looked to be getting super real in chapter 252 of Hero? I Quit That a Long Time Ago because the arc's villain -- eldest brother -- fulfilled his contract of a Black Warrior Chapter or whatever (basically the same kind of thing that let Zero become super strong) by killing his biological sister and almost of all his monk "brothers", along with his master... which seemed like a build-up for one hell of a fight. Then 253 happens and I'm not sure what's going on any more. The super-strong swordsman (or will be super-strong in the future, but right now he's just... well, he's plenty powerful) jobs to the eldest brother in a very quick fight, then Zero stops the eldest brother from doing away with the swordsman. Eldest summons this giant construct and Zero immediately dispatches it, after which it looks like the guy just fucking collapses. WTF?

Then there's this Q&A thing at the end which I'm not sure whether they were the original author notes or the scanlator's notes. I don't know what to make of that, but if that's the end of the arc, that's kinda bullshit. 252 had perhaps the biggest build I've seen yet in the series and I'm going to be annoyed if the guy completely jobs to Zero. *Granted*, this is supposed to be comparable to the future timeline and, under some unknown circumstance, the swordsman must have originally won that fight so... it's possible that this jagoff wasn't actually that strong? Maybe he hadn't got very far into using the chapter to train or something. However, it's ridiculous that they tease something like this since the series has gone out of its way multiple times now to establish that as the source of Zero's power (at least initially). It would be like if we learned in a Superman comic that there was another survivor from Krypton and then he's somehow only as strong as... idk, Blockbuster, Mammoth, or some other super-strong guy who is far above normal humans but a complete jobber beyond that.

Watched 2 episodes of bottom tier character. It's pretty bad but I kind of enjoy it. Basically some gamer nerd that thinks real life sucks gets talked into giving real life a serious try with some help from the hot chick in his class. It kind of surprisingly doesn't go all that well right away and he is sitting there seriously studying human interactions and popularity and stuff. If it had better writing, I feel like the show could pretty good. The writing isn't all that good though. Actually it's quite similar to horimiya except horimiya is way better.

And after reading c253 of Hero? last night, I had noticed The World's Strongest Fighter Who Tried Too Hard Living A Leisure Life In A World Of Magic in the suggestions/recently updated... and instead of continuing on Demon Hunter (I was up to when the Love Pillar is about to get bodied by the old man moon because she doesn't realize that's not his real body that she's attacking), I think I'm kinda hooked on this.

It's a somewhat paint-by-numbers resurrection-isekai where the protagonist lacks a basic ability in the world yet is absurdly OP in another area (and, despite being an OP martial artist with no magical ability, he still wants to learn magic)

tbh, the protagonist was a magic-obsessed otaku in his previous life, which is part of why he wants to learn it. That and literally everything in that world is powered by magic (although he's still easily able to beat magic users)

Haven't watched the anime, but the manga is very slow paced and easy going; takes a while for any relationships to make any real progress. I don't really remember any melodrama though.
