My AirPods work flawlessly and pair instantly to my Windows laptop.

The Airpods icon thing showing the battery will pop up on my iPhone but I can rarely get audio to play through the pods. It'll keep playing through the phone speakers no matter what I do. It's enough of a headache that I sometimes stick to the wired earpods for my iPhone.

My iPad Pro has never and will never acknowledge the existence of my AirPods.

Wtf. Everyone talks about how effortless they are.

I've never had an issue with my airpods. They pair flawlessly the second I take them out of the charging case.

The issue with you is that you manually paired them to the windows laptop so the airpods likely pair to that the second you take them out of the case and won't pair to your phone or ipad as long as they're paired to the windows laptop. Apple has software to tell the airpods to pair to the apple device you're currently using but that won't help if they're paired to a non apple product.

In math a negative times a negative is a positive. So in theory, 2 shitty products should be something good.

It's definitely because you have them paired with your laptop. This exact same issue has happened to me, you just have to get in the habit of unpairing the AirPods completely from the device you last used it with (in this case your laptop) in order for it to work with the next device you want to use it with. It's annoying I know, but that's just how it works especially when using Apple products with non-Apple products.

The quality shitpost I was hoping for.

Also thanks Marka and David. I'll make sure to shut down any pairing to my laptop when done from now on. I thought flipping the case with the phone and/or being miles away from the laptop was enough.
