That being said, (potential spoilers below)

I didn't get the hype- there was a character battle just before I played LiS for the first time and a few people were trying so hard to get Kate in so I was seeing her name everywhere. Naturally I assumed she'd have some huge role in the game instead it was just a scene or two and I said "that's it?!" and couldn't believe she was getting such a huge push for something so small.

Thus she doesn't compare to the other LiS girls in my personal rankings, but she's still cool.

Not really a surprise considering the game goes on regardless of the outcome of chapter 2.

Not only that but she wasn't even supposed to appear in the later chapters, even if you did save her, aside from her cameos in Max's Nightmare and the Sacrifice Chloe ending. Her hospital scene was added into the script in response to the overwhelmingly positive fan reception she received in the first two episodes.

Mean this as seriously as I can--she's definitely the strongest character in the first game, and possibly overall. Thought David had a good foundation but they completely shanked any hope for nuance or exploration in the prequel. These games just never understood subtlety, sort of just banking on the player having the same perspective as the writer's room--a lofty assumption, for sure.

I liked Life is Strange a decent bit but I can't really say I liked any of the characters there
I know it's weird to like a story-driven game without actually liking the characters, but they somehow made it work!
10/10 atmosphere, great twists, and some emotional moments really hit hard even though I diidn't "like" the characters but did care about them (I mean fuck, I don't like Chloe at all, but asking to plug her off from the life support? I couldn't)
