Board 8 > Thoughts on Final Fantasy XV (SPOILERS)

So I am on chapter 5 now but uh, I think I am glad I waited a bit to get around to this entry as I haven't heard a lot about it and so it helped me really appreciate how good this game is. Combat is straight up super fun and being able to create quint cast -aga spells that do 9999 damage every time in chapter 3 was pretty amazing and breaking in a fun way, I felt rewarded for being a mad scientist lol.

Characters are good so far, except for Prompto who I hope dies 'tragically', and so far I dig the themes. Emotionally game feels a bit stilted with a lot bubbling to the surface.

Also as an old man now (lol) I feel like Cindy is kind of gross. I like her, but geesh the 5th time I called my car to me and they show that low angle shot and it is just like... be a little more subtle?

Looking forward to more about the Oracle, and the focus on the big boy summons is nice, seeing Titan was pretty badass.

So far so good.

What I had wrong with the second half of the game:
(not 100% specific spoilers, but maybe spoiler-y depending on how you view spoilers.)

It's like they completely forgot that they had to have a story and just rush you through all of the story beats, taking away the open world to do so, and JUST when you think 'oh this might get cool again' it really really doesn't.

Glad you like it! Pretty good game, even though at the end you'll see it was rushed.

I kinda wish I didn't get ffxv on launch, I heard some of the later updates were good. Glad you're enjoying it!

I completely agree the battle system was a high point, I enjoyed fighting. I kinda started hating sudequests since I started to feel like I was playing a single player mmo, but they weren't actively bad or anything.

Enjoy it as much as you can, I think it's a really interesting game. It's this crazy mixed bag of highs and lows but it does have a lot of great parts (like Prompto, who you are wrong about and is great). I'm sure the updates and DLC even some of it out too.

I played it for like 20 minutes because I wanted to get in on that Assassin's Creed DLC thing, which at the time was just an egg IIRC (but I was too late)

I also played the demo

I simply just could NOT get a hang of the battle system, I was really bad at countering and shit

Hopefully when I get around to this game again I can wrap my head around it

It's a video game topic from a guy who is clearly playing the game for the first time if you actually read it. Basic etiquette is not to discuss stuff beyond where the topic creator is, but B8 rarely abides by that anyway.

Oh hey uh, I don't care if you guys give opinions on things - your experience good or bad doesn't effect me. Little worried I am about to be Radiata Stories'd but it happens. Although as Leon said a little bit odd to discuss future things and make me feel dread but as long as there are no specific spoilers (I am 100% unspoiled outside of one thing but it was also something I assumed so I dont know if I was spoiled or was like 'well yeah obviously')

Bought the game for ten bucks last year, never even thought of playing it until now, so getting like 20 hours of fun so far is pretty good. Like that I can play old school music while traveling, like the banter except Prompto, and warp killing stuff is just fun.

When it's literally a topic about them being in the process of playing that game, yes, you should probably be careful not to post about stuff they haven't gotten to yet.

If you like it so far you should definitely keep going! Played it when it first came out and loved it even without the patches. Seems like theres no middle ground with this game. It clicks with some people and doesnt with others but if you like it through chapter 5 youll probably love it when youre finished with it
