I doubt it, since as recently as October air travel was still way below averages:

https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/10/19/925577175/air-travel-high-tsa-screens-1-million-for-first-time-since-march
The TSA's daily throughput figure has topped 900,000 eight times already this month, and the TSA reports that the 6.1 million people passing through U.S. airport checkpoints between Oct. 12 and Oct. 18 was the greatest weekly traveler volume measured since the start of the pandemic.

But experts say despite there being a lot of pent-up demand for air travel, it's important to note that even with this modest increase, the number of people flying is still down more than 60% from the 2.6 million who flew on the same October Sunday last year.

I'm saying that, without the TC providing a link, the next most approximate news source that I could find shows that travel is still down significantly from last year. Even if they recorded 2M travellers, that's still less thant the 2.6 million that traveled on that random October Sunday as well.

I guess people arent afraid of dying from covid, even though 2% is a relatively high mortality rate tbh

The issue is most people I think realize those who are dying are mostly over 60, which mathematically speaking a larger portion of the country is not.

Yea, in some countries like Sweden the average age of death from COVID is greater than the age of life expectancy which is crazy

That combines with seeing lockdown skirted by the people promoting it and people basically just say fuck it to following rules for me if not for thee. Most people i hear talking about it in the real say it's a real thing, but the people responding to it are just being the biggest hypochondriacs until they want to do something, so why take it any more seriously.

Besides, I said it from the beginning, people were doing that "if .01% of the skittles in the bowl were poison would you eat from it" thing, and I said, on the short term if that was the only thing keeping us living our lives, most people wouldn't, but as time passes, more and more people will just go for it because the limited life under lockdown isn't worth it, and the summer added the flair of people being jackasses instead of asking how lockdown could be made more tolerable for people to follow. Now, even at risk people I know would rather face the virus than spend their twilight years locked up, and there's little convincing them another lockdown would be different.

The most I might do for Thanksgiving is a socially distanced dinner with my parents who live 15 mins away.

No travel. No large groups.

People traveling by plane and doing large gatherings are nuts

Its a mix of

  1. A decent chunk of the most vulnerable already got torn through earlier in the year
  2. Doctors have had time to learn ways to increase survival rates
  3. Average age of those infected has lowered

Thaf said we are on the brink of death rates going up from hospitals being overwhelmed.
