I hate going to the movies, so I won't willingly pay to see a movie unless I'm at least 8/10 excited about it.

Usually like 9/10 if it's just self-motivated. Otherwise I'll pretty much see anything with friends

I generally only see a handful movies in theaters a year. Movies that have a lot of special effects, etc.
8/10 I guess

I hate going to the movies. I have for probably 15+ years now. I only kept going because I wanted to see movies earlier. Covid kinda axed that problem. I fucking hate the theatre experience unless it's in one of those VIP ones that costs double and keeps out kids and riff raff.

Even before covid, never. Would much rather watch it at home and theres no movie series I'd be so excited for that I couldn't wait.

When I see movies in theaters I'm doing it for social reasons, so I only need a passing interest in the film itself.

I mean, I'm not seeing shit in the theaters now

But before I'm only seeing movies I want to see. I never went to the movies just to watch a movie and hope I would like it. I know my own tastes pretty well by now.

From 1-10, how excited do you have to be about a movie to see it in theaters?

Usually I'd say 11, but right now 15. Unless somebody else is paying, then usually 5 but right now 15. It'd have to raise the hype bar many times over because I'd walk into one of those deathly danger zones to see it.

I'm not saying nothing could get me in there, but it'd have to include something absolutely fucking insane and probably be a limited-time only thing.

I don't really get excited about movies. I like movie theaters though, so if I'm in the mood to see one, i'll go. Picking one movie to watch out of eighty billion movies online is impossible, its way easier when you only have like 10 or 20 choices.

The only movies I go to theaters for (during non-covid times, of course) are kids movies. Very rare that my wife and I want to see a movie in the theater that we would go through the hassle of arranging a sitter for. If we're out on a date night and we decide to see a movie on a whim, it's whatever strikes our fancy in the moment, not necessarily what we're most eager to watch.

8 at least.

But even before Covid theater shooters have changed everything for me in a big way. It's impossible for me to not think about the possibility even a tiny bit whenever I've been in one over the past several years. What a shame if this experience dies forever, it used to be so much fun.

I hate going to the movies as it seems to be an overly glorified day care center. You got the adult-childs that cannot seperate themselves from a cellpones set to 100% brightness. Then you got the phone calls or talking to the person next to them at the same volume as a gym teacher acress the auditorium.

Then in my area seriously you got the church buses that will buy 30+ tickets for a freaking r rated movie. Leading to the youth leaders standing up "Now guys what is wrong with this portion of the film". This was at a 8pm showing.

Back when movies were like five bucks on opening night and I was a teenager with no obligations I saw pretty much every movie I was vaguely interested in. Now movies cost 3-4 times more and my standards have gotten higher (or I'm more cynical) and I only see movies in theaters if I really, really want to see them or if I think they're going to be necessary being on a larger screen. Otherwise I wait for streaming.

I think part of it is I also just lost that urge to be among the first to experience stuff. I always wanted to get new games first, beat them before my friends, etc. Now I really don't care. I'll wait three years to get a game on a steam sale rather than pay $60 up front.

I only go to the theater to avoid spoilers.

I want to be able to smoke weed and take piss breaks and cuddle my cats while watching a movie

I think the last movie I went to see in theaters was The Gift in 2015 and that was because a coworker kept bothering me to go

When you work at a theater the last thing you want to do is go there on your day off
