I'm on a marathon with my nephew this weekend while we're keeping him

I'm not saying the criticism of the second trilogy is completely unfounded. The acting is definitely pretty terrible in spots but.....it was in the original trilogy as well. But the special effects are obviously much better than the originals.

I mean I'm sure the originals were completely mind blowing in the late 70s and early 80s, and they've held up really well. But.....yeah

Yeah, if the special effects are great, who cares about the acting, script, or plot.

Episode 1 is terrible 2 and 3 are saved by the fights. As for the original 3 I only liked the one with the little bears.

The acting is pretty "hokey" in all of them tbh. And the plot is pretty consistent as well.

It's also worth considering they're clearly made and wrote in a way that children can enjoy them

I actually kinda wish instead of the God awful Rey trilogy, they made lucas' original plan for a sequel trilogy, it sounded really fucking cool actually. Darth maul still being alive and essentially being the biggest crime lord in the galaxy, focusing more on the shady underbelly of the galaxy.

Is it not canon that he died? Or was it like a prequel to the prequel?

Like a shit ton of the sequel trilogy is very close to Lucas's vision lmao. Calm the fuck down.

This. Disney pretty much just removed "Force Ghosts that are controlling everything in the universe" which was totally the right decision because Space God is a stupid idea.

Gonna have to agree, I love the political aspect to it and the choreographed fight scenes. The OT just seems so slow and boring after the PT.

i like 3 more than 6, but none of the other movies come close to 4 and 5. Maybe Clone Wars and Mandalorian (if it can keep it up for a few more seasons).

No you're right. I'm agreeing with you. All my children's movies have heavy politial themes, betrayels, mass killings, dismemberment, weird sexual tension, and offscreen child slaughter, all ended with watching an armless legless man getting burned nearly to death.

I dont like how flashy the saber fights in the prequels are. The saber fights in the OT were tense and dynamic

The prequels are objectively bad movies. The new trilogy only really suffered in Rise of Skywalker at being unwatchable.

I don't give two fucks that George Lucas was true to his vision and took risks. Every tangible aspect of the prequels are a failure.

The only two legitimately great movies are 4 and 5. The rest range from decent to terrible. The prequel and sequel trilogies both hold two terrible movies.
