How are their prices compared to walmart? Never shopped at one as i've basically always lived near a publix or a walmart.

I used to shop at Wegmans before aldi, and I would usually spend $110 give or take. Now I spent like $50 at Aldi.

The vegetable selection is awful. I buy meat there and eggs when available. Anytime I need to bring shit to a kickback or potluck its aldi. Chips, wine, cookies, burgers etc. I dont buy much middle of the isle shit. I go to Trader Joes for everything else.
That mulled wine they get around this time of year is fucking tasty....like not as good as getting the spices and grilling the lemons with cloves in em and combining it with some cheap red wine but its way easier.

Their Keto bread is my goto. 40-45 calories, and 1-3 carbs?(It's not 0, like they want you to believe) Yes please. They also have asparagus the cheapest out of any supermarket. And I love them.

The Aldis by me apparently hires people at $15.20 an hour starting. That's not that bad for that sort of thing. Not great, but better than most comparable jobs.

IF you can get a job, in my experience no more than 2 or 3 people are working a store. But they seem pretty happy. Last time I was there there was a line of 8 customers with one cashier and one of the jackass customers was telling the cashier to STOP checking out people and turn off a light 2 lanes away because it bothered him and tricked customers into thinking there were 2 lines open when there was one. Poor girl, but she seemed fine when I talked to it afterward and told her that guy was an absolute ass.

It might be a bit of a harder working job since there are less people. I imagine you have to stock shelves AND check out at the same time too. But if you have a good buddy out on the field it can make the experience fun.

The only item I go out of my way to get at Aldi is baking soda. When my mom used to get stuff there on Saturday mornings I swear that a good chunk of the shoppers there didn't have running water.

They're about the same in terms of price, they have their own decent sales as well. But presentation, and the variety of stuff they sell, Wegman's is better. They sure love their cheese.

One place everyone should avoid buying at is Giant. Overpriced to the gills.

I can't bash Aldi but not my cup of tea. I don't have time to be going to other stores when they don't have what I need, plus I'm a bulk shopper. Aldi is more for the person who goes to the store every day or a few times a week.

This comment will reveal that Im CE old, but whatever. I remember in the mid 90s in the Milwaukee area Aldi used to be crap. My parents would come back from there and the stuff would be second rate, especially their Little Debbie like products.

I now live in the U.K. and 25 years later its my favourite grocery store. Im not sure if its the change in country, but the quality of food is now much better.

The Aldi on the south side seems pretty good to me now. Ive shopped there a handful of times over the past 10 years. Outside of their meats, at least, which arent always great.

I typically only buy egg whites, because I'm lazy and don't feel like cracking eggs myself

But youre missing out on most of the nutrition of eggs without the yolk!

All the nutrition and *flavor* is in the yolk. Plus they use the lower quality eggs for things like a carton of egg whites.
