Instant loss of driver's license for 2 years, then 5 years for a repeat offense, then for life.

Plus 30 days jail time.

Death.
Other note.
I dont think I've known a single soul who has not driven completely sober at least once.

So lets eradicate the world!

It's seriously crazy how easy it is to accidentally end up driving while you still have alcohol in your system.

There's been a couple times now where I got drunk the night before and still felt it despite having to go to work the next day.

Temporary loss of driving privileges. After your 2nd or 3rd time, permanent loss.

Which offense are we talking? Im not about to lock someone up for years over a one time lapse in judgment, but repeat offenders need to spend time locked up.

It's crazy how easy it is to just...not do that.

You know how livers work, you know how alcohol works and you know how time works.

I have to work in 8 hours? Guess I should stop. Etc

1st offense: 30 days in jail, license suspension up to one year (Recoverable after 6 months if steps have been taken by the driver to address their problem)
2nd offense: Year in jail, license suspension at minimum 3 years, requiring tests and things like AA meetings in order to get it back after. Right to drive is forfeit is this is not completed within 5 years.
3rd offense: Multiple years in jail, permanent loss of license. Minimum 1 year of jail if caught driving again in a non-emergency.

It's laughable how lax the drunk driving laws in the US are. I'm not sure even that's strict enough.

Because this cancels out the excuses pretty nicely.

You shouldnt be able to buy/be provided alcohol. I would also add driving restrictions but would focus on the drunk aspect.

Well for starters I really don't drink that often so I'm not an expert in gauging how long said alcohol will last. Secondly it's sometimes up to 10-12 hours, so even when it seems like it's enough time it isn't. Finally if I know I'm going to be drinking at a party or bar, I will plan for a different form of transportation ahead of time.

Nobody's perfect in predicting how your body reacts to alcohol intake. It's not like I'm getting annihilated, then hoping in my car or even being completely irresponsible about it. I think there's been like 3 or 4 times where it accidentally happened and I've made more driving mistakes while completely sober than I have in those 3-4 times.

It's easy to avoid drunk driving. Just don't drink alcohol.

None of the above.

All convicted drunk drivers should be sentenced to drive through North Yungas Road 30 times while intoxicated!
