Well, my mom and step-dad. Biological father was never around, and passed away when I was a kid.

Its all happening very quickly, not exactly sure how to process it.

Not sure how to reach out and say goodbye to that side of the family, never really been in this situation.

Im almost 30, so I cant imagine how hard of a time kids have dealing with this stuff.

As the Dad says in Clueless, you divorce spouses you dont divorce children he is still your stepdad and their are still family if you choose that.

sorry tc that sucks. a couple of years ago, my parents were having a rough time in their marriage. they're both retired and i was in my late 20s. my mom kept calling to vent to me about how she wants to leave my dad and my dad would call me to vent about how my mom was crazy. it fucking sucked. they're okay now but damn i try to forget that period of time.

Idk Id feel weird going over there for holidays. Like inevitably some questions about my mom will come up. Just feel like itd be an awkward situation for everyone

It is rough. I've been on the outside looking in and also knee-deep in the litigation side, and it's never easy for anyone involved.

Do what you think is best with regards to your stepdad and his side of the family, but if you were on good terms then I would say, for whatever it's worth, to keep those channels open. Blood bonds are not the end all be all of family.

i've been doing better thanks, i'm in a more positive mindset recently and just trying to ground myself to be more thankful/positive with things in my life

you're definitely right about that my guy, everyone is suffering more than usual this year
