Was this made with the intention of looking controversial to make it trend?


So I just saw this post from the official nutella brand on facebook (local area) and didnt think much at first besides some ghosts that looked a bit familiar, but the more I stared at it the worse it seemed.

I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. Studying it for a moment does make it look bad, though. Makes me sad that something cute like that ccould have racist undertones, though.

I get the ghosts on top, but what are the eyeballs on the black part supposed to be in a Halloween context? Just eyeballs and it happened to be on the black part?

Probably eyes looking from the darkness. It reminds me of really old cartoons tbh. If the ghosts weren't so suspicious looking, you wouldn't really assume anything is wrong either. They are just disembodied eyes on a cake.
