I took off a month but I'm back into the swing of it now.

Feel so weak and fat.

But it's nice to be lifting again

Today is bench day

I'm about to lift

Switched from 5/3/1 for beginners to regular 5/3/1 since the last string of topics died so my workouts are shorter

I got really into running over the summer, hit some milestones that I never thought I'd be able to, but I just can't handle heavy cardio in the cooler months. I'm thinking about going back to calisthenics but it's not the same. Running was more than just about physical well-being. The exhilaration is unlike anything I've experienced without substance abuse <_<

I wish I ever felt this way about exercise. It's always a chore for me

To be fair, I'm still in somewhat of a honeymoon phase with running. I've been morbidly obese my whole life and was at one point unable to walk without experiencing a lot of pain, so finally being at a weight where I can run safely has been an incredible experience.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm currently dragging my ass on today's calisthenics session smh.

i make body pics to compare every two months and i can not see progress on the last one in comparison to the one before. while i generally worked out every day, did my walks and ate my healthy food it just means i have to amp it up a bit. i've made visible progress since i started doing it though and im probably the fittest i have ever been so im not discouraged yet

i tried every month at first too but the differences end up super subtle in my case. having two months to make visible changes is a good achievable short term goal for me because it keeps me motivated to keep working it and not eat trash. most of the time. im guiltily eating cookies right now

yeah... when I first began the month to month changes were really noticeable but in the past few months it hasn't really been, its been a demotivator if anything

maybe I should switch to every two months too

all of my lifts fell but my deadlifts fell the least so that's cool

Today was the final weigh in for a weight loss contest that started right before the old topic purged. I won by a landslide. 30lbs down but we went by body weight percentage. I was at 14.something. my nearest competitor was at 8.

Lost my bit of spare tire and the only lift I lost strength in was dumbell bench press which only saw a decrease of 5lbs. Beyond that I look pretty much exactly the same.

The final week i was at way too big of a calorie deficit. 800 calories a day made me feel terrible. Glad to be able to eat again. Hopefully, I look better once I eat and my muscles puff up with water weight.

I still have trouble aligning my work schedule with fitness goals. The "solution" seems to basically amount to having to wake up around 4 am on work days so I can work out prior to going to the office, so I can 100% get in a clean workout every day. Right now I'm working out after work but it always kind of sucks since I'm at least a cup or two of coffee down by that point.

Damn. This topic is making me want to get back to it. Ive been going to the gym once every week or two...used to go like four times a week.

My workplace shut their gym down due to Covid, so I ended up getting a membership at a local gym. But between it being a longer drive in the opposite direction, and being open to just whoever gets a membership (thinking Covid here), its been a lot harder to get myself to go.

Really need to get back into the habit. Broke the habits I had build up, and now Im slacking. It was so easy to just head for the gym next door when leaving work. Especially because it was empty 99% of the time.

Bah. Need to get my shit together.

For similar reasons,, I had to change my schedule to include at least one weekend day. At least now im getting one really good workout in per week. It's better than none.

Speaking of which, today's workout went great. Eating more added extra reps to pretty much every exercise. I'll probably overindulge this week some and then get back on a more balanced diet. I've got a solid 10 or so lbs I want to lose yet but my stamina took a hard hit this past week or two. Definitely need to refuel. My appetite is pretty small atm so I'm not going to do too much damage.

My main thing is whether I get all my meals prepped for the week or not. If I get my meals prepped, I'll most likely get all my lifting sessions in.

I work overnight shifts. We are locked in the building, and even if we weren't, fast food places are not open during the night. So I have to cook, pack, and prepare something for "lunch" break and my pre-workout meal. Cool thing is my gym is less than half a mile from my job. So I heat up my pre-workout meal in the microwave, then park in front of my gym and eat in my car. It's all pretty convenient as long as I have everything prepped. I usually spend several hours Saturday night meal prepping so I can just grab my meals and take them to work.

I started working out half way thru the quarantine lockdown (around June) and its been good for my body and mind. I was thin before but lacked any muscle and was still kinda soft body. Now Im building muscle and starting to look pretty good.

I work out 4 days a week and run on the other 3

I am fortunate to be able to just get a workout in once or twice a week. It is peak season over here at my present place of employment and the overtime is too good to pass up when offered.
My workout is only 30-40 min. Can usually squeeze that in somewhere no matter what my day looks like.
