WTH, I just decided I had not seen Heavy Metal in waaay to long, and checked amazon prime/netflix to see if it was available on either, and in the process found out they made a followup film that I never freaking saw.

I mean

How did I miss that? I think I may even actually watched the original since 2000 tbh, pretty sure I watched it at least once with my wife and we were married in 1999. Somehow, even having tons of nerdish friends, playing DnD for decades, MtG etc, I never once heard about the new film.

That is crazy. Now I just gotta find somewhere that is actually streaming it. Actually kinda wanna rewatch the first and then watch the second right away.

I'm saying this as someone who likes this movie and has watched it more than a few times....

It was released with little promotion, fanfare or critical reception, and what little critical reception it got was mostly negative. You didn't hear about it because there wasn't much to say. Like, "hey go watch this movie that has nothing to do with its namesake and is extremely likely to disappoint" is a bit of a hard sell.

They're so disconnected in style that I would only recommend a double-feature if you're looking to scratch your head over the creative direction of the second movie compared to the first.

This album is not available to the public.
Even if it were, you wouldn't wanna listen to it!

Yeah, I rewatched the first (Still freaking great) but only 10 minutes of the second was on youtube and I can't find it anywhere (other then bad sites/unlawful ones whatever). The 10 mins I saw wasn't very impressive though so I'm not gonna rent it or anything for now.

Soundtrack for the original rocked, the stories were great etc. Was nice to rewatch it after all this time.

Makes sense if it sucked that nobody would mention it. I'll still watch it sometime but I bet it'll be on a streaming service at some point (or crackle, it's normally on crackle but not right now).

So it isn't "unlawful" when you steal the movie off Youtube?

Anyways, Heavy Metal 2000 isn't great. It did have some promotion when it came out. I remember it going quickly to the movie channels of the day though and being in constant rotation for a short stint. It has a decent soundtrack from what I remember. Pantera has a good original track on it - they were killing it with soundtracks back in the day.

I mean if it's on youtube and they have not taken it down etc, then I believe it is legal to watch it. Might not be legal to post it (not sure) but there are commercials etc, so I think they make money from you watching things on youtube. I know there are a ton of movies on youtube and I think they are legal (Seriously not gonna do research to figure it out).

Going to a site that plays movies currently in the theator etc though is...well maybe not illegal, but unethical, so I don't do it, even if it doesn't really hurt anyone etc. I tend to error on the side of over caution as far as legality is concerned in general.

I have jay walked though.
