I feel like that's pretty standard? I doubt they are carrying out 250 interviews; that's just how many people applied. A lot of those applicants most likely barely qualify. We get hundreds of applicants for every post we advertise where I work.

Yeah, I'm definitely pulling for you, but this is the standard. I wouldn't be surprised if coveted jobs receive over a thousand applicants. The market is relentlessly competitive for non-shit jobs.

For legit, bottom tier waiting jobs, there are on average, depending on location, between 200 and 600 applicants here at the moment and a solid 50+ of those have managerial experience.

Yeah, this is pretty common, and it's why it's super important to follow up instead of just waiting for them to call you. When you're in a sea of applicants, you need to stand out, and appearing eager for the job is a good way to do that.

When I applied for the training program that lead to my current job, I was one of a few thousand. I applied, didn't hear anything for a few days, and so I emailed them to ask on my application status. The very next day, I was scheduled for an in-person interview and test, and it all went great from there. I have no doubt that I was chosen because I showed interest and my name stuck out among the thousands, moreso than they just liked my initial application or anything.

This job is a mid-tier IT job, and I thought I had it hard.

Anyway, I think my interview went JUST about as good as it could possibly go outside of being hired on the spot. I should find out on Friday, fingers crossed.

Talked to the IT Director today, he said he has 3 more interviews scheduled but Im still at the top of the list.

Theyre gonna make a decision next Thursday or Friday.

i am a hiring manager for Amazon and I hire for two large facilities in a densely populated area in NJ. it's just a warehouse job but we get maybe 500ish resumes a week right now and that's very very low. This summer it was about 3000 a week.

no interview or resume is even necessary but I do like to flip thru them out of morbid curiosity. amazon warehouse is never anyone's first choice, especially if you have a resume of any kind.

How do you even filter through those and pick who gets the job?

We don't, if you have functioning limbs and can communicate in basic English and have proper IDs and can pass a drug test then you get the job

I manage high volume hiring which is a special kind of hiring where you don't really give a shit and you just make sure you can get as many ppl as quickly as possible, its very fulfilling work (it isnt)

One day I might transfer to corporate and become a traditional manager but I don't really wanna move to Seattle

Instead of making a decision, they gave me a second interview with the head of the company.

Basically, they acknowledged that I am technically undertrained and underexperienced for the position (it's actually insane, I would become the IT Director of the company when the current IT Director becomes CTO), but that the Director was so impressed with my assessment and he liked my personality so much that he wants me for the job.

It just comes down to the boss approving it.

I'm scared, but I'll find out on Tuesday what happens next.

I had a job interview yesterday where 7 of us sat there and waited our turn to be interviewed. I was of course last. I was asked exactly 2 questions total in my interview. Got offered a job 30 minutes after I left. (I kinda don't want it tho lol)
