Would you believe Hurricane Zeta?

Zeta was the last named storm of 2005, forming on December 30th. We reached Zeta on October 25th this year. We're going to have to come up with a whole new naming system if this sort of thing keeps happening.

Did everyone have fun with Hurricane Zeta? Because we could be looking at Eta very soon. There is a disturbance near the Lesser Antilles that has a 20% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 2 days, and 60% chance within 5 days.

I don't think that the Hurricanes did enough this offseason to separate themselves from the rest of the metropolitan division

Eta is expected to make landfall in Nicaragua in less than 24 hours with winds of 130 knots (150 MPH, 240 kph), which will make it a high Category 4 storm. There will be catastrophic wind damage, a storm surge of 12 to 18 feet, heavy rainfall, and flash floods.

Most models show Eta will emerge back into the Caribbean as a tropical depression by Saturday. The long range forecast beyond that is still quite uncertain.

Meanwhile in the eastern Pacific...

Eta survived it's trip through Central America, and now it's cutting back across the Caribbean towards Cuba, and then it will curveball into the Gulf of Mexico. At least it doesn't look like it's going to be any worse than a tropical storm for the time being.

Tropical Storm Odalys formed in the eastern Pacific, but it's not any threat to land and will probably dissipate within 72 hours.
