CDkeys is a gray market. Their codes work. They just didn't get their codes usually by very ethical means.

Yeah, the issue with CD Keys isn't that they don't ever work, it's that there's a handful of issues with using them. First, because they resell keys it may be considered unethical (although technically not illegal... maybe). This may not be a big concern when you're purchasing something from a giant corporation like Sony but can have an impact keys from smaller publishers. Second, because they don't supply the keys themselves, if there's ever an issue (like it fails to work) there's no guarantee of a refund or restitution.

It's really a choice you have to make for yourself. It's not that CD Keys is scam or doesn't work out, but it's definitely a grey area in a lot of respects.

Never seen them not refund if a code didn't work as long as you bought the proper one.

That's a place like G2A. CDKeys sources everything themselves similar to a store like GreenManGaming or other stores. G2A, Kinguin et all are super shady marketplaces that you shouldn't visit.
