Noticed her a week or two ago hanging around my yard.

She'd take off if someone moved near her, but these days she'll let people get within about ten feet.

Those are from when I was first starting to feed her.

These are from today, she definitely is putting some weight on.

She also likes hanging out with the neighbor's cat, Roscoe. He's a chill dude, never even seen him hiss at a cat.

I'm thinking Ash, Cinder, or possibly Carrie for names

Trying to think of a way to get her neutered if she is feral.

Are there two different cats in the picks?

Color of the bottom one is way different.

Bottom one is the neighbor's cat.

Threw him in because you can never have too many cat pics.

Ah, good.

Nice of you to take care of it, it could become dependent on your food though.

If you don't plan to continue doing it or caring for the cat permanently it is something to keep in mind.

If she isn't actually feral I'm going to adopt her.

Otherwise I'll just try to make things easier for her.

Trying to think of a way to give her someplace warm to sleep during winter.

Unfortunately the only I can think of getting him/her to the vet is in a carrier/cat trap - best bet is it to keep building trust, maybe leave the door open and let him/her look inside your place slowly.

Best I can do is about ten feet, which is an improvement.

That's what I'm thinking.

Apologies if my previous post seemed *catty*... no offense was intended against Roscoe.

Move the bowl closer and closer to your door, and feed it at the same time every day. Eventually the cat will be waiting at your door for you to open it and stick the food out. Then you can start putting the bowl right inside your door, and coaxing it into your doorway. Eventually itll want to come in your door when you open it to feed itthen you can let the cat get accustomed to your house somewhat, a little bit at a time. Once you accomplish this, Id make it an indoor/outdoor cat. It will like to go outside and wander but will always choose to come inside to rest and sleep and eat.

Trying to think of a way to get her neutered if she is feral.
Get a trap. Put food in the back of the cage and when the cat steps on the pressure plate, the door closes. You just need to keep an eye on the trap when you put it out because feral cats can harm themselves trying to get out of the cage. And your state may have a low cost spay and neutering program that are designed to reduce the feral cat population, so you may want to look into that if you want a cheaper option than most ordinary vets.

Also, females are spayed, and males are neutered.

This. They'll likely also get vaccinations and the like.

Also, don't try to coax a potentially feral cat into your home. A cat who reached adulthood without socialization is going to rely heavily on instincts, even if they have become attached to you. If anything goes wrong, they can do substantial damage to you and your home, as well as themselves.

Trap, neuter, release is the way to go, and if you want them to be something of a pet or protect them from the elements, set up a little house for them outside.
