With extra time on my hands stuck at home until this pandemic is over.

Haven't played much at all since WotLK. Barely experienced cataclysm, and skipped every expansion since. Peaked during vanilla and BC.

But it looks like an entirely different game by now

I remember playing that back on high school. My best friend bought it for me so I could play with him. And another friend at school got it, as well. I had fun. But paying every month was not fun back then. Haha. I had to break myself away from it. But it was hard because I did have a lot of fun. I have occasionally though about getting back into it. But always decide against it. Plus, I still have enough other games to hold my attention...

i've been itching to play WoW for a couple years now. it's was 100% my comfort game. i really love it. but i swore i wouldn't give activision another cent of my money, so no WoW for me anymore, ok?

As someone who played WoW twice--once being from the end of BC to a couple months into WotLK and the second being from the end of WoD to two weeks into Legion--all I can say is the game hasn't really changed for the better. The cinematics might be better, and it might be more accessible in a few spots here or there (to be generous), but the game and lore have gone in varying degrees off the deep end.

As someone who plays both, I'm going to go with XIV. It's the better game overall, even if Eureka and Verminion exist and Lady Lilith does not. Also, Clench, you may or may not like a certain major NPC in the third (and current) expansion. >:3

I know I'm biased because I do 18+ person events in XI like 4 or 5 nights a week still, but man I really don't like XIV

will ffxiv ever go f2p do you think? i'd like to play again, but at my own pace, not because i feel obligated because i'm paying monthly. i hate the subscription model, ok?

FF11 is still subscription so I doubt 14 will go F2P ever.

The free trial now includes all the story content through the first expansion though which is quite a bit to do. If you've already paid for a sub before you'd have to create a whole new account to play the trial version, however.

yeah, and on ps4 it's extremely difficult to (or impossible, in my case) delink your account, ok?

WoW just did a level squish, current cap is 50, once the new expan gets released, it will gonto 60.
It was much needed, maybe not a new thing like someone pointed out, but cant expect a new player to level through 9 peroids of content to 130.
Now its one peroid of content to 50 (choose your expan), and one more for 60 (SL)

I still enjoy the game, and those saying playing FF14 instead, not like he cant play both.

I think it was $20 back when I played. And I did my best to spend as little at the theater as possible (I had a rewards thing). And honestly, I rarely go to the movies these days. And when I do, its usually free...
