I'm getting more and more tempted to go ahead and buy AU (the gold mining stock, not the metal itself). With each passing day it falls a few more percentage points and I'm glad I didn't get in yet. And the price seems more appealing. I think gold should do well if the market or bitcoin ever correct.

Trump just did a press conference bragging about the stock market. The market plunged within days the last couple times he did this.

It's easy to calculate unless you've been adding/withdrawing money.

It's hard for me to calculate exactly since I've been steadily depositing more funds into this as the year goes on (been saving a lot more than I've ever been able to before this year due to reduced expenses), but I think I've made a little over twice as much money as if I would have if I had made the same deposits starting in March, but just bought and held SPY.

So I called up Vanguard to get some clarification. Firstly, I am designated as a Patterned Day Trader. This allows me to buy up to four times what I have in my account. I have a little over $113k meaning my total buying power is slightly above $455k. My next question was how does borrowing margin money work. I found out that it depends on how much money you borrow, but for over $250k its like 6% annualized. So, if I borrowed $250k and sold the same day, youd do $250k times 6%, then divide by 360 (not 365). If it was borrowed for two days, youd divide by 359. Etc.

Can you imagine if I put $455k into a stock??? Even if it went up 1% throughout the day, Id make $4,500. But I am way too conservative. I would be worrying about the stock plummeting 10% in one day thus essentially halfway bankrupting me...

If it dropped 25% in a day it would bankrupt you.

So i had an interesting thought and spoke with a certified person with more assets than I suppose anyone else has here (old people with pensions, and shit). It's all tied up, so I can respect their conservatism when it comes to moving money simply because it really can't be moved.

But if you're worried about the future, which you know, i get...look at the graphs forever. Ever since America became a superpower. If you think america is great, and will be great, staying out of the market is absolutely insane to me. I know people that are waiting for another stock market crash. Guess what, it isn't going to happen. Coronavirus is priced in. Cases are rising, has the market reacted? Once, like 2 months ago. Ever since then, there's just been good vaccine news, less uncertainty about america falling apart, etc.

If you think America is going to blow up, yeah, stay on the sidelines. If not, I think you're a fool to stay out. Put your money into proven stocks. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Because at the end of the day, if you put your entire life savings into something that actually is literally too big to fail and it fails then life is going to suck regardless because there won't be an america as you know it.

which btw none of this will happen but i work with an idiot thats waiting on a crash with boat loads of money and he's just sitting on the sidelines

400% exposure on one stock is way too high. Even SPY can fall 25%, and if you're on margin it doesn't matter that it will come back. You get margin called, your shares are sold to pay off as much of the margin loan as possible, and you are bankrupted. When the stock goes back up, whoever bought your shares is the one who makes the profit.

So I counted and I've done 114 trades this year. And I haven't even done a single true day trade (selling on the same day as I bought). So thankful they don't charge commissions anymore, because that would have been about $800 in commissions under the old pricing!

For people who may be interested in Wynn, I just received a new offer from Wynn Las Vegas that is markedly better than the previous one. The offer used to be one complimentary night if I pay for a night. The new offer is 3 free nights and $100 in resort credit for nothing other than resort fee of $45 per night.

I think they are running low on customers and are trying to get people in the door.

Great day today! Actually, this is probably the longest run of uninterrupted green days for me that I can remember. Yesterday was red for me, but only by $21 so it doesn't feel like it even counts.

I still have a lot of my portfolio in cash after selling travel stocks and am feeling a market top so am hesitant to buy more. My biggest holdings are things that I think may not follow the secular market trends much:

SPCE (space travel)
AU (gold mining)
PSA (self storage)
SCHW (brokerage)

Also I bought a little bitcoin for the first time ever. There is a fairly significant chance that this will become a big percentage loss, but my feeling is that if this were a true bubble, it wouldn't have come back after falling 85% after 2017.

Weak willed bears are sad that they don't earn money while others do so they are sometimes dumb and emotional

I bought before Citron fucked me, could cash out at 12% profit but then the tweet happened. Sold for 3% profit then went back in when it closed -4%
Not sure how much I am now..probably -8% or something?

Because it dropped a lot from the peak?

Did you realize it's net worth?
I know it isn't saying a lot lately with Nio getting a net worth higher than General Motors and not to mention fucking Tesla being the 6th most valuable company in the US...
Wix net worth is fucking 14 billion
