It's about 4:15 right now. I've been awake for about 8 hours. I'll go to bed in another 8 hours. But the next 8 hours are going to pass much faster than the last 8 hours, despite the fact that I'm going to continue doing the same things I've done all day.

wtf why

Because, as you've said, you're going to continue doing the same things you've done throughout the day. Repetition makes us perceive time as hastening or moving by quicker. This is also partly why many perceive life in general to move by quicker when they're older. If you want to make life feel longer, fill it with constant new experiences.

time seems to move faster when you want more of it, and slower when you want less of it (the opposite of what you want). if you don't want the day to end, then the closer it is to ending, the faster the time will seem to disappear.

It's because most people miscalculate the length of a day by calling Noon a midpoint - so the 4 morning hours seem to take as much time as the 8 later hours ... making the afternoon feel twice as fast

maybe?

First half the day goes way faster for me. My brain isn't fully awake until around noon so I'm mostly on autopilot up to that point.

I think it's because I'm not a morning person.

The thing is I don't want to get out of bed so time goes fast. However when awake I don't want to go to bed and times seems to go even faster.

I get the exact opposite. Mornings fly by, then the rest of the day drags on forever.

I find the opposite to be true, mainly because I spend many afternoons at work.

It has to do with the framerate of our eyes. Kids see more frames-per-second than adults, so they perceive time as moving slower.
This was proven incorrect. And your articles 7 years old. We dont see in fps.
