Pretty much. I've heard first-hand stories from Youtubers about how these shows try really hard to start up drama behind the scenes so they have material to work with for the show.

Fictional or pre-planned behind the scenes, it's still nothing but people talking trash about each other.

Why do they have to rely on that kind of drama for it to be entertaining?

Because people watch it and it takes no effort to make.

I only saw one random season of that show but I didnt like how safe and sanitized everything felt. The show is called Survivor but all of the challenges are just people solving big puzzles or doing tug of war or something lol. It didnt feel like they actually had to work hard to survive on the island

wasnt there a show a while back where they dropped people into the wilderness naked and challenged them to survive?

There's nothing real about reality tv. Take a season of hell's kitchen. From what I've read of behind the scenes stuff things like cold ovens and the person said they turned them on? Yeah they probably really did but one of the filming crew turned it off when they weren't looking. There's a lot of stuff cut and pasted together from several filming sessions to make it seem like a shitty dinner service or good dinner service. I'm sure there's a few things I can't remember right now. Also keep in mind that I read this a long time ago so what I said may be half right or completely wrong. If I am in fact wrong someone go ahead and correct me.
