Retired Gen. Salvador Cienfuegos, 72, was detained Thursday at the Los Angeles International Airport. Prosecutors in New York unsealed a four-count indictment Friday charging him with drug- and money-laundering crimes.

Cienfuegoss arrest has raised the startling possibility that top Mexican security officials have quietly been working with traffickers during most of the U.S.-backed offensive against the cartels that began in 2006.

The public-security minister in the first six years of that effort, Genaro Garca Luna, is awaiting trial in New York. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of accepting bribes to help the Sinaloa Cartel.

Cienfuegos even tipped off H-2 about the fact that it was under investigation by U.S. law enforcement, according to the documents.
Using that knowledge, H-2 killed one of its own members, a person who senior cartel leadership incorrectly believed was assisting U.S. officials, according to the allegations.

Sucks when governments align themselves with criminals. Glad we don't have that kind of malarkey in America.

In Ghost Recon Wildlands, the Bolivian gov basically turned a blind eye to the cartels' operations as long as they keep the killings to a minimum.

Thats because in Mexico there are two types of people.

People who are allies to the Cartel

And people who are dead.

Which one would you rather be?

If the government wanted to, they could dismantle the cartels easily.
They're just way too entrenched from the corruption with all the bribes.

Did you forget what happened the day they caught Chapo's son last year?

Cartels went out to the streets and threatened to murder cops and military personnel.

AMLO released him after like an hour or something. The Mexican armed forces are a fucking joke, and I read a report about Cartel's resources and weapons that is staggering, they basically have better equipment and weaponry than the country's forces, wouldn't surprise me if they had like... tanks and shit lmfao.

All they had to do was port him to the US but AMLO doesn't care at all he's just another corrupt president.
