It's infected the scene so much that many black metal bands without explicit hate speech in their music still end up having Nazi connections. Panopticon is actually on the other end of the spectrum of black metal, which is much smaller (though growing in recent years). Panopticon is so leftist they are sometimes called "Red/Radical Anarchist Black Metal" (or RABM for short). I'm legit surprised OhhhJa likes them, but I imagine it's "just for the music". ... Music transcends politics for me. But yes, black metal does tend to have more of that than other genres but none of the black metal i listen to is into any of that. I'm just a metal guy in general. I just like listening to it and playing it. Metal generally skews heavily left and so do many of my friends. Well, I will say I do listen to drudkh and now people are saying they're nationalists but they're from Ukraine. Most of the racist bands tend to be from Eastern europe or russia. Drudkh riffs for days though. I just don't financially support them lol

I like Burzum's first few albums quite a bit, but I would never want to funnel money into Varg's hands. Ukraine is a hotbed black metal nazis and Nazis in general. The leader of M8L8TH (huge Nazi band) works as a recruiter for the militant Azov Battilion. There are two major NSBM festivals that happen in Europe every year that are used as recruitment grounds for Azov.
