FF3(6) US commercial
https://youtu.be/d15qmRzn2Pc

It's weird that I don't remember this commercial. I do however quite vividly remember their push to make Mog the mascot of the game: putting him on the boxart and all the advertisements, showing him turning motherfuckin' Doomgaze / Deathgaze into a pile of ash. Even the official player's guide gave him billing right after Terra and Locke, although that might have been just for the sake of presenting the party members in the exact order they appeared in the game.

Pity he wasn't even half that badass in the actual game :/

Indeed. Moogle Charm was the shit though. I would get Mog and that back ASAP in the WoR. Then use it to clear out treasure in the final area and other places.

Not as uncomfortable as having to tell your friends you bought an N-Gage.

Tbf, the movie was directed at girls while Aladdin and Lion King were more directed at all children/boys. Back then, video games were primarily marketed as a boy's hobby so it makes sense that the marketing for Aladdin and Lion King was huge.

On the Genesis, they had two Beauty and the Beast games they released at the same time. One you controlled Belle and the other you controlled Beast. I played the Beast one growing up and it felt like a budget title compared to Aladdin or Lion King.

Little mermaid for the nes was awesome. Scared the shit out of me as a kid. Hell underwater things scare me. Couldnt play ecco the dolphins tide's of time because it creeps me outm especially the final boss gave me nightmares.

interesting anime ad. Ive never heard of any of these. But available on Laserdisk!! Neat that they gave you the option for sub or dub even back in 1995. I guess anime was such a niche market back then that appealing to purists was the way to go.
I'm a pretty big anime fan, but I have to admit I've only heard of Tenchi Muyo and El Hazard out of that list. Fun thing: those VHS copies were probably $20-30 each with only two or three episodes on them. Buying anime was crazy expensive in the 90s and early 2000s. Anime fans today are so lucky that you can usually get a full season of a show on blu-ray for $50.

Good point.

And all entirely because so many stuoid people obtain their every single thought from media

Not to mention how ridiculously cheap it is to legally stream anime.

This wouldn't get complaints because they're just matching hair color with that of the system rather than changing something that has been around for a while lol

Hell yeah! I remember how rough it was back in the day: you had to watch episodes broken up into three parts on YouTube or... well, you know. >_>

Now, you can watch pretty much everything on crunchyroll for free (as long as you can handle a week delay) or dirt cheap if you need it same day (AND let's talk about how I can watch my favorite shows like an hour after they air in Japan instead of waiting weeks on fansubs or months on DVDs/TV). Not to mention that a much larger percentage of anime gets licensed, subbed, and even dubbed now. One of my favorite anime from the past few years was basically a CG shitpost of an anime with the voice actors constantly ad-libbing and doing improv. That would have never been licensed back in 2005.

The Review Crew! (EGM)

'94 sure was a magical year for gaming: Super Metroid, Final Fantasy 3/6, and Donkey Kong Country were the holy trinity of that year. DKC might not have had as much staying power as the other two for me personally, but at the time the graphics were pretty revelatory.

I should look into finding digital copies of GamePro. I had a subscription from like '93-'03. Ended up tossing them all at one point. There just wasn't any room/reason at the time to keep them other than nostalgia. Not to mention all the other gaming mags I had.
