You hardly ever hear about this Beauty and the Beast game compared to Aladdin or Lion King or Ducktales. Makes me wonder what the quality is like.

Tbf, the movie was directed at girls while Aladdin and Lion King were more directed at all children/boys. Back then, video games were primarily marketed as a boy's hobby so it makes sense that the marketing for Aladdin and Lion King was huge.

On the Genesis, they had two Beauty and the Beast games they released at the same time. One you controlled Belle and the other you controlled Beast. I played the Beast one growing up and it felt like a budget title compared to Aladdin or Lion King.

No problem man. I was born in '88 and my dad started subbing me to gaming mags when I was 4. Seen a ton of these gaming ads when I was a kid. Where are you finding these ads from?

I've also never heard of that game.

Interesting how hard of a sales pitch they drove Secret of Mana with.

This is issue #61 of Nintendo Power btw. June 1994 I believe.

These are well before my time, I grew up with 2000's Game Informer mostly as someone born in 1997.

Super Game Boy must've been so fucking cool back in the day.

It feels so odd to me that the original Zelda is still charting so high in 1994. I don't know exactly how this is being measured though.

That's hilarious. Pretty much just a straight marketing vehicle for Kool-Aid lol.

Sega Genesis actually had two separate Beauty and the Beast games. One had the player take control of Belle in a series of mini-games. The other featured Beast setting out to rescue Belle in traditional side scroller action. Both are separate from the Super Nintendo version.

It's kinda interesting that they would make three different versions of the game considering, like you say, they weren't as heavily advertised.

During the 16-bit Era, Disney sold off their properties to different companies for each system. So one company handled the two Genesis games while another just made the one SNES game. Most of their games were made by Capcom for the SNES while Virgin Interactive handled Genesis.

Thats why, for instance, the Genesis and SNES Aladdin were completely different games.

I remember the few times when Square had teased localizing more of the NES FFs and FFV. Found this ad when looking for stuff on V.

interesting anime ad. Ive never heard of any of these. But available on Laserdisk!! Neat that they gave you the option for sub or dub even back in 1995. I guess anime was such a niche market back then that appealing to purists was the way to go.

I freaking love going over lists like these. The SNES is down to $109. They must be taking preordering for the N64 since it isnt even close to be ready for launch. And still has the Ultra 64 moniker. You always hear about disks costing less than cartridges in the fifth gen but those PS1 and Saturn games arent cheap. Game Gear having the same price as SNES is interesting.

GameFAQs image uploader was not playing nicely with the pic so I switched to imgur.
