Really though that seems weird but not illegit, unless Inviso was promised something against the rules in exchange for the switch up. Inviso really seems to hate Tidus based on this contest (asked me to eliminate him back in 60th or something, surely fully aware that I was maining him) so that is a weird shift. Was a reason ever offered for this?

Also, there's nothing "dirty" about asking someone to change their votes. I mean I could ask you right now to vote for Seymour and there's nothing in the rules saying I can't do that. Rallying is bringing in outside forces that wouldn't be participating in order to strengthen your character unnaturally. Inviso is one of the longest tenured players and yes, we have been friends for a long time now so sure, I asked if perhaps he'd consider helping me out (keep in mind, Tidus is my #2 overall and unless something miraculous happens is my best chance to have a 'winner' in this) this one time, or just perhaps abstaining since it wasn't as if he was a Kefka fan. People support stuff in SMFFFC that their friends like and have done that for a long time now.

I dunno, it's not a good look to compare this to outright alt voting and cheating. It shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath. Nothing "tainted" took place here, and as Genny said FFD claimed he voted for Kefka only to counteract Inviso's Tidus votes so technically this gained Kefka more votes if you believe FFD would have abstained (he wouldn't have though).

I mean I don't know how he feels about Kefka and Tidus in terms of who he actually prefers as a character, I'm just repeating what he said. He had not been voting for either character up until Inviso switched his votes and later claimed he was only voting for Kefka to counteract Inviso.

PMing friends to "help you out" sounds like rallying to me - I'd know, Inviso has rallied me by sending an IM to me to "help" save Freya and I would definitely consider that cheating as well!

Tbf it was me who brought up the Tidus final in the first place not GMUN, don't blame her for that. I'm only surprised by Inviso actually switching sides, I almost admired the sheer pure hatred they seemed to have for poor sweet innocent angel sun dream Tidus.

But yeah it's not cheating or anything, and GMUN I thought rallying was just getting outside participants who weren't gonna vote otherwise, or like notifying someone that a round had started if they weren't paying attention (I'm guessing this is why in-round @s are banned). Not an expert though of course. Are any kinds of PMs considered shady?

just leave a window open and react to new highlighted topics popping up catching your peripheral vision as you do other stuff

See that's the trick to not getting burnt out on this contest

Check the board every once in a while when you feel like it, but once you're bored just have discord up and if you don't notice the topic first someone else will. You'll lose some seconds (or minutes if you're unlucky) but you don't have to kill yourself over obsessing over the board if you don't want to
