Anyway, what you say is true, by default crew maters should win more often purely because there are 8 of you vs 2 of them. In essence you fix the rules to make it so imposters have a chance to win. If you think a game is fun when you're crew and always win, and when you're imposter you always lose...is it even a game?

Imagine someone asking you head or tails, and whatever you call, you just always lose because they can manipulate it so your call is always wrong. Do YOU think that's fun? You'd say no that isn't fun, but then the guy goes and tells you, should the coin always be 50/50? I picked this coin so I would always win no matter your call, so my odds of winning are in my favor and your odds of winning are none when properly balanced. That's how THIS coin works. You'd say wtf to that kind of game. At least that's how I view your statement. It's fun for THEM, but not fun for you. Same for an imposter playing, you wouldn't have fun, but crew would. Of course this is all in the perspective of winning=fun. I've had games where I've lost and had fun still. The definition of fun is weird. I'm sure there's a game makers toolkit video on what "fun" means.

Alright, I can have a huge discussion on what I think the game is and what's fun, but I'm gonna stop before I go on an insane rant about it that no one will read.

In an ideal lobby. You forgot one important detail---with randoms, a high chance two of them will leave immediately because they did get picked as imposter. Even greater chance one will leave for the same reason. If you have randoms in the game, you're really playing 6 versus 2.

the group I mostly play with, crew definitely wins more often than imposters but I'm not really sure how we'd adjust settings to get it closer to 50/50 without either decreasing discussion time (not very fun imo since then not everyone gets a chance to speak) or decreasing movespeed (we do x1.25, walking places in general is just a bit too annoying otherwise).

Hide and seek is fun though and again, what you said is the point. It's balanced around the rule set. Hell all the rules of hide and seek give crew huge advantages but also some counter disadvantages. Tons of vision, but unable to report bodies or see tasks, imposters have low kill cooldowns, don't have to worry about bodies being reported and have long kill ranges and know that crew are never sure about how close they are to finishing tasks. The rules for that go even further to state you can say where the killer is. There's a lot to that ruleset essentially, and that's somewhat balanced and fair in my eyes. But the average pub game, it's insanity.

I honestly can't wait until they add new roles. Like a joker who wins when they get ejected, but loses if slain. Cops to verify people. Many mafia roles can be adapted somehow.

I think that's the fastest way to get this game to be much more popular. I already said my monetization idea which I think is genius on the discord server. But I don't think much of this will happen apart from a new map because the devs want to capitalize on the game's popularity currently. I can't imagine adding new roles on this limited engine, that'll certainly be exciting. Poor guys are distracted by all the hackers.

already got most of these going - our 8 person settings (with the discord overlay censored but I'm sure you can tell what the options are)


might just be the map favouring crew over imposters but in general imo this game is pretty hard for imposters even when you stack a lot of the settings in their favour just because there are so many things they can potentially get caught for.

don't know all the tasks you did so far as well as the one you were pathing to next when meeting is called? probably imposter
spent longer in a section of the map than the tasks you said suggest? probably imposter
moving inefficiently in general? probably imposter
killed someone in complete isolation and no one saw you go in or leave? oops everyone else was clumped on the other side of the map you're imposter

The stuff alpha said, AND fiddle with the kill cds and maybe the range.

Definitely no visual tasks, that shit literally makes it impossible for imposters to win. We already have that shit off but we had to reduce long tasks on mira purely because EVERYONE would get the fucking med bay scan and could verify through the waiting queue times that someone was crew. Then you have situations like me where I go hmm I know for sure 5 crew and I know I'm also good, so these are the two imps since they did a double kill first round. That's absolutely insane to think about. Imposters just lose because everyone knows who's good.

STOP DON'T EVEN TALK ABOUT THE RANDOS. I can't even. Even one rando being a dumbass can upset and entire lobby and ruin it with stupid shit. Like saying they found the body in cafe when it was actually in storage and it throws everyone off. And then you vote them off for lying and they're crew. I play with the mentality that as crew you WANT to win. Randos...randos don't think that.

Exactly why you gotta stack all the rules for them to even have a chance for winning. It does seem like crew win more often. BUT, it seems you're playing with eight and ONE imposter. That's a huge disadvantage and I don't know how you can balance that out. All I can say is that ten person games seem ideal.

The other reason why I say 1x speed IS better than 1.25 and people argue AGAINST 1x for this reason, is that if you're an imposter and see everyone on the right side of the ship, it's actually possible for you to call reactor and win because people can't make it to reactor on time. That's a fuck up for crew and a good eye on imposter. Alpha's pulled this off many times. I LIKE THIS IDEA. It means it's on CREW to be AWARE of where they're at and the imminent threat. This strat has been deployed on round one, where people often say lights are the strongest round one sabotage. The reverse also holds true, if everyone is on the left side, you call an o2 they might not make it on time if they're on 1x speed, whereas they'll always make it.

Actually now that I bring this up, this might be a way to balance mira and polus too, it feels like those sabotages are not threat. We really should consider tweaking movement speeds, I know it doesn't seem like fun but MAYBE MAYBE they can make it in the settings so you can alter how much time you have to fix a crisis to counteract the movement speed you know? So you CAN do 1.25x speed on skeld but now you have 15 seconds to fix o2 instead of 30 seconds you know?

Movement speed is a huge balancing point, but a lot of people attach a lot of fun TO the movement speed. I don't care I just se eit as a way to balance the game. If everyone moves slowly imposter are proportionately stronger for one reason...VENTS. Vents allow you to move large distances even when you move slowly. This is why I like 1x but even at 1x it seems preferable to run around than to vent. Right now vents just seem like hideaway places, if people moved slower vents could actually be a traversal mechanism. On polus it works like that a big, and on mira it's such a big deal to go to every vent that there's the door logs to counter that specifically.

The beta patch made it so if visual tasks are off it'll reduce the likely hood of people getting medbay. I think Mira has max 2 Long Tasks and there's only 4 different long tasks. Even with just 1 Long Task, an individual crew has a 25% chance to get medbay scan.

The chance to get at least 2 medbay scans is with only 1 long task is:

1 - (0.25)^0 * (0.75)^8 - (0.25)^1 * (0.75)^7
1 - 0.1001129150390625 - 0.0333709716796875
0.86651611328125 or ~87%

EDIT:
If you set the max of 2 Long Tasks, the odds become 99% chance that at least 2 crewmates have medbay scan.

If this gets abused, all I can say is increase kill CD and reduce tasks. I don't know there's a lot of abuse you can do as imposters. I don't like calling it abuse however because they're just trying to win with the limited resources they have.

The biggest problems with Mira is that it's easier for Crew to stack up and the Medbay scanner being right at the start with a good chance of crew having at least 2 crewmates with scan if long tasks are on.

I like polus, but realistically, I've NEVER seen a reactor loss. Shit is too long. All the more reason to make it so you can adjust crisis fix timers. Whenever I see reactor I stroll my way their casually, check the entire map for bodies and then go fix reactor.

The only thing that Polus is really lacking is a major threat with the emergency. Reactor has a full minute before it goes off. It's really just lights which doesn't help split up crew.

Mira and Skeld both have emergencies that split up crew while still remaining a threat that they have to deal with immediately.

I wish there was a way for crewmates to defend themselves from imposters. Like have the ability to kick people in the balls to stun them for a couple seconds lol.

...But it would have to have a long cooldown and people would just be kicking everyone they could in the balls for shits and giggles lol.

Now that I think about it, this idea was less about crewmates defending themselves and more about me just wanting to see those little space men kick each other in the balls.
