There have been some big hits, but on a pure numbers level it's felt like a weak year for anime. Will this season get you back in the anime mood?

This season is really exciting to me. Usually there's only 1 or 2 shows I pick up, but there are 4 I will definitely watch (HIgurashi, Adachi&Shimamura, Yashahime, The Day I Became a God) and a few others that I'm keeping a close eye on.

This is definitely better than the last 2 seasons for me, but I'm still not that thrilled.
Plan to watch: Adachi to Shimamura Haikyuu (eventually, probably waiting until this season finishes) Wandering Witch Interested, but will wait to see impressions on the show: Akudama Drive Assault Lily Tonikaku Kawaii Maybe if I have nothing better to do (unlikely): Mahouka S2 --- I didn't do guru this year but azuarc can be in my sig anyways. ... Oh yeah I guess as a fan of some Jun Maeda things I'll probably keep an eye on that show also in case people say it's really good, but my hopes are pretty low.

Yeah that's the issue. I didn't like the Rewrite anime much either, though admittedly that felt like it might have been an adaptation problem.

That adaptation was definitely very bad, deviating from the source material in a bad way. The only non-sequels I can recall getting delayed that were originally slated for Fall are Otherside Picnic and EX-Arm, IIRC.

I just did a full rewatch a couple months ago. It's a constant climb in quality until the very last arc which dips, but that's still excellent quality.

I mean the main reason I asked was because I had heard the Chimera Ant arc is fantastic. I don't know anything other than the name of it though and I don't know the ordering either.

Chimera Ant stands out as the legendary high point, but that's completely on its own merit, not that it's "so good by comparison". The rest of HxH stands above its peers as well.
