A rhino looking heifer was having none of it at a local Walmart and was recording the incident when they refused her entry for not wearing a mask...

Until a black man started recording her outrageous behaviour and called her a "Karen" which then prompted her to say Karen is a racist slur for white people and then rags on him for calling her a racist term as he laughs it off.

She then threatens to call police cause she felt he "threatened" her and then ragged them for black lives matter.

Considering that it's almost exclusively been applied to white women and defined as such, it's explicitly a racist slur. You could argue the relative power of racist slurs, but the racist component is there regardless.

Sorry, unless Karen is being commonly used as a pejorative term for any random white woman regardless of behavior, you don't really have an argument here.

Karen is used to describe a person with a specific set of antisocial behaviors. I wouldn't say the requirement of being a white woman is a steadfast rule, as I've used and heard others use it across sex and racial lines.

In absence of those behaviors, Karen isn't used because it wouldn't make sense. Racial slurs are used to demean a person on account of their immutable quality, race. If the use of Karen changes such that people are using it to refer to any white woman, just to insult their being white or Woman, then the question can be reevaluated. Maybe at that point the Chris Rock argument might hold some water.

I feel a little bad for such people, as well as for any parents that named their kid Karen 2-3 years ago (presumably, the name's popularity has plummeted in the past year), but the term is not racist or misogynist in any way because it describes behaviour, not race or sex. That the stereotypical Karen is a white woman is a consequence of that being the largest demographic of Karens, not any inherent racist or sexist sentiment.

I honestly just think the Karen thing is played out. I can actually buy people calling it a slur to some degree, but there is not a ton of history behind it being used in a negative way until fairly recently. Though I have heard people say "black karen" or "male karen" once in a while so it isn't specifically used against white women, though of course the majority of the time it is used, it is.

I'm also over the term "boomer" even though this one is a little different. I just feel like terms get super overused I kinda stop caring.

Karen has a stereotypical gender, race, haircut, and attitude. Wikipedia ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karen_(pejorative) ) does mention "As of 2020, the term was increasingly being used as a general-purpose term of disapproval for middle-aged white women."

White women make up a much greater proportion of the US Karen population than those of other races. Structural racism exposes white women to distinct stressors causing them to be targeted by an unfair system, such as targeting a popular haircut style for middle aged white women.
