To help out TC (and maybe anyone else that might be interested) I decided to type up some quick descriptions for some of the shows I had recommended in my earlier post.
Black Lagoon An action series about a Japanese businessman gets roped into joining a mercenary group led by a hotheaded, gun-toting, half-American chick, and they do dangerous mercenary work together. Has great gunfights and some good, occasionally vulgar humor. Also has an amazing English dub that turns up the vulgarity (which is perfect for this show) and IMO makes it even better than in Japanese. Puella Magi Madoka Magica A psychological mystery series about a group of girls that are recruited by a small talking cat-alien-thing to become magical girls and fight against witches. The story is much stranger and darker than it first appears and I don't want to spoil how, so try to watch this with as little prior knowledge as you possibly can. Has beautiful action scenes, great characters, and an incredible story with lots of twists and turns. Revue Starlight A drama series about a class of theater girls that take part in an underground theater fight club, where they battle with various weapons for the title of "top star" and the magical power that comes with it. Has an excellent story, great music, lots of beautiful action scenes, and a talking giraffe. Outlaw Star An adventure across space starring two buddies and an android girl they found one day as they collect bounties and do other various jobs as outlaws. Has great action scenes (both on-foot gunfights and spaceship battles), fun characters, and some good lighthearted humor. No Game No Life A fantasy series about a brother and sister who get taken into a fantasy world where all conflicts are settled by games. They, as expert shut-in gamers in their original lives, win their way into being the leaders of the humans and set out to conquer/unite the other races by using their skills to beat everyone at their own games. Has very creative game battles, hilarious comedy, and pretty good fanservice if you're into that sort of thing. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure A long-running action series following various generations of the Joestar family as they battle various evildoers. Each of the 5 parts that have been adapted into anime (total of 8 including the manga) focuses on a different JoJo and tells a new story that expands on the others. Has really creative fights (especially from part 3 onwards) and plenty of awesome, badass, and occasionally meme-worthy moments. Princess Principal An interesting 007-esque spy thriller that takes place in a steampunk version of London, about a group of female spies who do espionage work for a princess who wishes to take over and unite the divided country. Has really cool spy action, a great cast, and a good story with some surprisingly dark moments. Also has a great English dub that gives the characters fitting accents, which helps the atmosphere of the show itself. Deca-Dence A post-apocalyptic action series where humanity is nearly extinct and lives inside a mobile fortress (the titular Deca-Dence) as they fight off dangerous monsters called the Gadoll. However, this conflict is only a small part of a much larger conflict, which I don't want to spoil here and you'll find out in the second episode, so try to watch this with as little prior knowledge as you possibly can. Has awesome action scenes, really interesting characters, and one of the most creative and ambitious stories that I've ever seen in an anime. Symphogear An action hero series about a group of teenage girls who use mechanical weapons/armor, created from ancient magical relics and fueled by the power of song, to protect the world from dangerous threats such as monsters, terrorists, mad scientists, alchemists, aliens, an angry space priestess, the transgender illuminati, and God. Has fun characters, awesome music, a crazy story, and some of the most incredible, badass, and hype action scenes in the history of anime. Seriously, it's batshit insane and it's amazing. --- "Someday I too will fly... and find you again!" https://imgur.com/ORhDSgu ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah, looking at the stuff TC has liked it seems like she wants dark shows with a serious theme. I would recommend From the New World then. Adapted from a print novel, not a manga or light novel so it already has a more serious atmosphere. Parasyte, Hellsing, and Devilman Crybaby seems up your alley too.
Id also recommend Fafner but the visuals are really outdated and it takes awhile to get really rolling. Its an anyone can die show with high stakes and little room for levity though. --- </topic> ... Copied to Clipboard!

Ergo Proxy and Serial Experiments: Lain fall under the "dark shows with a serious theme" umbrella too.
