Somehow, I've only run that dungeon thrice. Last night was my third time, and my party was decent, though the Rdm slipped and died during the last boss battles. I earned three commendations from that run. Also, it seems silly to me that Lunar Bahamut has two different group-wide aoes (discounting the stack marker).

Yeppers. Lunar Bahamut is a proper, typical ffxiv dungeon boss with no transition phase. This is a stark contrast from the dungeon's second "boss fight" (Magitek Fortress), which is a couple rounds of adds to break up the time spent on the aoe-spamming striking dummy.

The first boss is just annoying, but it's also a good gauge of the overall dps of your party. Can your group beat it around the time of the third lightning bolt?

I am so feeling the wear from doing Mentor Roulette so many times a day. Seeing the same dozen or so dungeons over and over again 80% of the time, more than half of them being boring, people making the same mistakes no matter how much you try to tell them there's a better way about it (like the yeti boss in Snowcloak). I wish I could make my game run itself for those roulette runs, at this point.

Also my Butterfingers arrived. I purchased one tray. They sent me three trays. I guess they got really excited that somebody actually bought their Butterfingers.

I learned about what it was about a week into the patch. I showed up a few times for a total of ten golds--remember, you need only score a 6, 3, 4, 4, and 6 respectively for the parts of one fete--for the achievement. During that time I received the mount and two coffers, at least one of which I sold (I'm not sure of the other).

When I've knocked out some other goals, I intend to delve back into Diadem/Firmament crafts for the rewards and achievements. I do need the Casual Attire Coffer for Lyra's Dark Knight glam, which I'm not in a huge hurry to get as of yet. No idea what her sword will be, but I do have time. lol

I'm a little annoyed that any of my money just went to Nestle, which I've been thoroughly against and trying to boycott for years since I had learned of their role in Cali's drought. The mount is nice and all, and I'm happy to have been able to give something to a couple friends at work, but still.

Oh, you did? Nice. I'm planning to run the whole trilogy on Friday because of the mogtome event. Seven of those 30 tomes alone will get me the Ramza minion out of the two rewards I want this time around. Then when I do the three raids again the following Tuesday, that will finish the second reward, and, by the time the campaign ends, I should have more than enough to earn a little extra MGP, which isn't necessary but still nice. I'll mostly be happy to not have to fight rng for those two items, finally.

Also, fanfest hype is building! And I've noticed recently there are WAY more youtubers and streamers covering FFXIV. I'm curious to see how much larger the playerbase grows when Endwalker launches. I think even Asmongold admitted that FFXIV is dethroning WoW and is just going to keep growing and growing, and he has really strong negative opinions about FFXIV despite never having played it lol

Oh also I unlocked the new custom delivery client today finally and decided to do some gatherer deliveries. I had no idea they changed the gatherer collectables system. And apparently you only press 2 buttons now? IDK I don't think I like that change.

They streamlined the heck out of collectibles in... I want to say 5.4? Maybe 5.3, but I don't think that far back? It's easy and all, but hardly intuitive. Just meet the stats, choose your second button, collect when your minimum has been reached.

I think I'll be doing gatherer turn-ins this week, because I'm stocking up on Hi-Cordials for when my HQ plain cordials finally run out. I made so many of those back in mid StB.

Man 6 months until release. I understand why, but man that is gonna be a long wait. In the meantime though I have an alt, Pig Inablanket to level up and re-experience the story! Also I can use this character to make even more money. In the past two weeks Ive made about 6 million, which is not bad but I could do a lot better.

I have my list of goals for my main character, such as clearing those extreme trials and getting those gwibers, finishing the relic weapons, and knocking out one or two of the big fish achievements I don't yet have. I also want to get Lyra caught up on story and get her jobs developed to appropriate levels.

Otherwise there are other games to play and books to finish reading or writing.

I'm so convinced that Soken went into Fanfest with the intent of trolling his bosses. Dude even appeared at the end of Keynotes wearing an Overwatch shirt, and, when others were talking, he pulled out his phone and took pictures.

Yeah apparently he was in the hospital from March to October, and he worked from the hospital, and his doctors gave him the okay to attend fanfest because he's going into remission.

I'm glad he has managed or achieved remission. I have lost loved ones and acquaintances to cancer. I hope this thing is beat for good, but that he and his doctors stay on top of it in case any symptoms resurface.

With that in mind, I hope he is vaccinated against Covid, and that his work and the fans' love for it continues to give him the strength he needs. It is a powerful thing.

I decided to throw some extra weekly tomes at Ninja. A lot of the gear is good for that job, actually. At the end of next week, I'll be 15 tomes short of the pants for it. So once I have those, I should consider putting the nier raid coins into upgrading those pieces, just so I have another dps to use whenever.

Next week, the relic line finishes for the xpac. I'll probably finish Brd, Whm, and Mch first. Apparently, once we're rank 25 in the StQ areas, we can use excess mettle to develop further? I'm reminded suddenly of Merits and Job Points in XI, and wonder what the limits will be for such development. I'm glad it won't be another gear grind like in Eureka, but hmm... Maybe I will hold off on my duels until I've developed some more, just so those fights will be quicker.

My BLU group got through Omega-M/F! Then we wiped to the first mechanic in Final for 90 minutes. lol But we got very close to getting to Hello World. So hopefully on Monday we can get Patch down and work on HW1!

hit mastery rank 8 in final fantasy XI :O. Which means literally nothing mechanically, or even bragging wise because no one else in the game sees your rank as it's only in your profile menu:



was a mechanic added last november that basically is a hidden point counter tracking completion of absolutely everything in the game there is to do. Assuming max rank is 10, but we haven't even seen a rank 9 yet out of anyone playing, so I shall continue to grind and attempt to get there.

It's fun for a completionist because it even gives a reason to do old outdated content with little to no reason to do anymore before it was added. It's like I actually get to play the game again instead of just boring endgame crap two/three times a week!

Yep. The Resistance Honors system is like XI's Merit/Limit Point system over-simplified. I'm curious to see how much of a boost each Honor will provide. I'm guessing 3-5% each, for a total of 30-50% boost to HP, attacks, or healing once capped off. Maybe 2% (20 total) is likely, given the usual Echo boosts to older content.

We'll see how this system affects duels and DR Savage, as well as how many people might be all "lol I don't need that essence that gives 70% boost to damage; I have this 20% buff now." Because working in a call center, retail, food service, and maining a healer have taught me that people will say and do the dumbest things and think they're smart about it. My apologies for the apparent cynicism here, but you know.

I tried to get a clear in, this morning, for Castrum Milk before heading to work, but people boneheaded the math on how many should be on top versus the bottom during the first boss. So we failed the first boss and the raid, and I'm down about 26k mettle at the moment in addition to still being 47/50 on clears for the third such achievement.

Anywho, more mettle from DR clears, meaning I can start grinding that soon for Artifacts when Castrum Milk is done and I'm working on my Whm or Brd relic at i535. Now to decide which one first. Well... I can decide between now and when I've done the three final ShB story quests.

Somehow I knew the Triple Triad mount would try to resemble a generic TT card. Getting Firion and Phoenix cards will be my biggest hurdle, aside from the copious amount of rng for the other cards I'm still missing.

I am developing a Shadowbringers Bucket List. That is things I need or want to do over the next six-ish months before servers go down for the Endwalker expansion. So far, I have as follows:

Highest Priority--
Beat the last 48-man raid at the end of the Save the Queen storyline.
Get my main jobs' relics to 535 (Brd and Whm).
Clear RubEx, SoSEx, EmEx, and DiaEx so I can resume Mentor Roulette in the next expansion.

Higher-Medium Priority--
Finish the x50 Castrum Lacus Litore achievement (47/50, may finish during relic grind AND Honors grind).
Mentor Roulette runs as far as I can go.
Get the new hoverbike mount from the StQ areas.
Complete the other relics to 535 (many are still 500 or 510).
Earn all 30 Resistance Honors (actually OK if I fall short since Reaper and Sage need to level)
Gear up my alt jobs.
Do the Gogo fight on Blu.

Mid-Medium Priority--
Finish decorating my FC private chamber.
Collect the remaining Triple Triad cards numbered 1-312.
Beat the duels in Bozjan Southern Front.
Beat the duels in Zadnor.
Finish the Grandmaster Caster title from all Source big fish.
Do more Delubrum Reginae until I get that second Gabriel mount.
Collect Gwiber mounts from Hades, Ruby, SoS, Emerald, and Diamond.

Lower-Medium Priority--
Catch more Big Fish from The First.
As a BLU, beat T13, A8s and A12s synced to get that Morbol mount.
Complete a solo run of HoH to 100.
Reach 9001+ Commendations (currently at 8615) for ancient meme reasons.

Lowest Priority--
Doing the Firmament Master crafting for achievements (also: Casual Attire glam for Lyra's Drk).
Level Lyra's Brd and Drk to 70+.
Getting the "Big Fish" title from the First's big fish.
Raise the Ltw and Wvr desynth to 520 (Gsm is already there). Maybe raise the others to 400+ too.

I have beaten the new raid. I am a little annoyed with the final fight because 1) I got hit with a few things I really shouldn't have, and 2) the last boss loves to throw hard-hitting raidwides at you on top of everything else going on. Like the difficulty level leaps from a chill 24-man to a mid-of-tier savage with telegraphs added, and so the fight takes a while as a result.

And then the story is all "lol BTW, only the 'Save the Queen' story is over, but there's more Damalsca coming, including the old man who for some reason will not stay down. Please look forward to it!" So yeah, I think I know what we're going to see in 6.1 at some point. <_<

In other news, I have started a spreadsheet recording the bonuses given by the Honor system, at least for White Mages. I'm sorry to say I have not felt inclined to record the numbers for all seventeen jobs currently existing in the game.

Yes, there is a free trial that goes to the end of the first expansion, letting you level everything available to 60. Once you get the full game, it usually gives another free month, but with full social features and the currency cap raised. After that point, it is 12.99 a month, or a little cheaper if you do multiple months at a time (and that's without things like extra retainers you probably won't need).
