I caught Problematicus last night. Nine big fish remaining, pre 5.5. I think the lowest I've been was eight or nine remaining back in 4.2, before Stormblood's big fish began to appear? So if rng behaves, I might finally get the remaining number down below that point. We shall see.

Charibenet -
Blizzards weather from Midnight to 3am. Catch five Ice Faeries to trigger a buff that lasts a couple minutes, so that the big fish becomes available. Mooch an Ice Faerie to get it. Problems? Abalathian Smelt likes to show up instead with roughly the same cast timer as the faerie, and the same (!) tug. Then if you do get to the point of mooching an Ice Faerie, a few other fish also like to bite the line, so you have lost lots of time on the buff that you might get once or twice in a window.

Sea Butterfly -
Clear skies from 5am to 7am. Catch three Sky Faeries (with red balloon bait) and three Scorpionflies (giant crane fly bait) to trigger the fisher's intuition buff. In either case, other fish may show up instead, making me wish for infinite GP with which to surface slap the unwanted fish or identical cast the desired ones. You might get the buff one time in the five minutes or so of real time, even if you start early (which is recommended) on the smaller fish. No guarantee Sea Butterfly will even bite.

Armor Fish -
Clear Skies from 1am to 4am, but you can pre-cast for the desired smaller fish like the previous two cases. You need six Hedgemole Crickets to trigger the buff, and starting early may allow for two buffs in one window. That said, you have to mooch off a cricket to get the armor fish, but other fish may also bite instead.

Opabinia -
This is the one that killed me the first time I tried it three years ago, back when Fish Eye's was needed. It's any time, but it and the smaller buff fish require thunder weather. You have to catch three Functional Proto-hropken for the buff. However, one other (!!) tug fish has similar timing (17-26 seconds), whether you mooch from the Platinum Fish or straight-catch it, Oil Eels love to bite the line after Platinumm Fish, and Azysfish love to bite instead of the plats; also Jeweled Jellyfish, because why not? Then when you finally get the buff, which may happen once in the entire eight hours in-game, you have to mooch off the plats again and hope the big fish bites instead of literally anything else. If you get a double window, you'll want to move to the other side of the small fishing hole so you don't get interrupted by fish detecting your presence, otherwise you've wasted 40+ minutes of your time.

Stethacanthus -
Technically any weather, from 4pm to 6pm. But! You need two Sculptors to trigger the buff, and those need thunder weather. Sculptors require not just the weather but also mooching the only starter fish there seems to be in the whole of the Lochs - Rock Saltfish. As you can probably guess from that, every other fish likes to bite more frequently than Sculptor by an incredibly stupid margin, as in I haven't seen even one of them in three windows. If you do get the buff, mooch a saltfish again and hope Steth bites.

Warden of the Seven Hues -
Thinking about how to explain this gives me a headache. OK. So. For the buff you need enough of three different colors of fish. Indigo (3) requires mooching a Violet, and appears between Midnight and 4am. Firelight (3) mooches off of Red, and appears between 4am and 8am. Either of those can fail because of Yellow or Blue biting instead of the mooch starter, or White biting instead of the target fish. Green (5) takes no mooch, but can happen any time between Midnight and 4pm as long as it is a clear or fair sky weather chained after a clear specifically. Manage this buff, which I have not as of yet, and you might, maybe get to see this fish bite your line.

And that is just what I have left in the Source. From the First, I have Ambling Caltrop (Clear, Noon to 4pm, mooch an uncommon gecko, hope it's not the other !!!), Henodus Grandis (Clouds, 10pm to Midnight, mooch uncommon squid, hope it's not the plain Henodus), and Pearl Pipira (Fog, 4pm to 8pm, mooch Diamond Pipira, uncommon to start, hope you don't get a normal quality diamond, because it mooches off itself for days, or a smaller fish).

Meanwhile, I get Titan HM at one point, and end up carrying the whole party on my Whm. Titan dies right as I hit LB3. Then I earn five of the possible comms, presumably because the other two left too quickly, bringing my current commendations to 8285 at the moment.

I swear, if another achievement for those actually comes along, I'll be among the first to get it.

I hate that I'm not opening at work tomorrow/today, because I'd love to have the time to do a few last things after work before the servers go down for maintenance/patch. I might be able to do a few Mentor Roulette runs and turn in for some Alc leves before work, but that's it.

There's my tenth Delubrum and four Mentor daily runs done before work and patch, this week's lv80 B rank picked up for next week (since Nuts are capped already), the unique leves achievements done for all eight crafters, and now I consider waking up early tomorrow morning to get started on the new stuff. Okay so I don't really know what the differences between a normal and a Lunar primal are, but I think the towers are essentially mini Dalamuds. The beastmen are being tortured to summon the Lunar primals, and Fandaniel will somehow harness the aether/energy of the Lunar primals to destroy the star. That might not be the whole story, but I think that's what's happening.

Wanderer's Palace nm when that buffs the final boss. It's why people choose to just "burn the boss" and don't touch the adds at all.

Tama Tara HM when killing the adds, yourself, makes them explode and deal damage plus vulnerability to your whole party, so you have to have everyone just stack on the first boss's butt so that the same boss kills her own adds with the targeting marker she puts on a random party member.

A few low-level ARR dungeons where the adds can be ignored outright due to how OP we've become.

That's about what I can think of.

Didn't clear Diamond EX, but got close. That's a really cool fight, and for a ShB Extreme it's actually difficult, and I'm curious to see how pugs handle the fight tomorrow lol

Several months after they were first introduced, I've finally done a Faux Hollows. 40 seals won. I need like 600 to get the mount. >_> But I did earn a retelling, which I think means I can fight Levi again and do another Faux Hollows? Idk. I didn't do Shiva because nobody wanted to do Shiva because of Shiva Savage. And I didn't do Titan because it's freaking Titan and I am not subjecting myself to that every week. So yeah hopefully I can get this mount quickly. I hear you can also win some of the prizes you can buy by doing a Faux Hollows, but idk if that's true or not.

Even though they allegedly tuned it down a tad for Unreal, Levi Ex was actually one of the two hardest trials in ARR, at least for healers. I do need a reliable group to do Faux weekly, though.

Yeah, I vaguely recall needing to bring the Sahagin in question down to 33% health before it can be stunned, so people do need to DPS it hard.

I'm sad. But maybe this is an opportunity to expand horizons and improve ourselves and the like. I'll still play XIV but maybe not as much. FLAME is my home, and I'll always remember the good times.

Recent events have indeed been rough. I won't lie, as huge as part part was in the drama that's unfolded, I cannot help but feel like this was bound to happen sooner or later with that whole clique of individuals. If not by my bad decision making yesterday, then by whom and when? I want to be wrong, but I don't know. I really don't.

Self-improvement should indeed be our respective goals. I had mentioned last night I was thinking of stepping down as officer for a week or so, and one guy said he felt the need to leave the fc since it no longer felt like home for the past year or two. Sometimes people grow or become better away from one another, and for me this will be an opportunity to breathe and improve further as a person.

As for the game, we'll see. 6.1 will be the defining moment as to how long I will stay with FFXIV. Even Rioka has been playing less, and you know he has been around since 1.0. I am hopeful that FLAME holds together and finds its next wind soon.

I kinda want to leave FLAME. It's too depressing. Nobody is at the house. Nobody is talking in FC chat. People just login, don't say a word and leave. But I know Auric depends on me to keep things running. And I don't know if it's worth it anymore. ;_;

I mean, you do show up in the mornings when it's the most quiet. People not hanging out at the house is nothing new, as that's been on and off since, I want to say, late 5.2. Plus we did lose people, for sure. I want to say give it time to see how things improve, or be the positive change you want to see. That said, however, I understand also the desire to spread your wings elsewhere, to find the next place to call home. Part of me wants to leave too, but only when the time is right. I want it to be on better terms than the present, and I want FLAME to continue to flourish with the right people within it.

Huzzah! I'm happy for you.

Anyways, there's something that's been bothering me for some time. I understand it's difficult to read tone online, but people sure love to read anger in a lot of what I say when there is only one person in FLAME--not even the people who have left--who has ever seen me actually get angry at other people. That one person talked me down from doing anything with said anger.

I might be terse at times, a pain to some folks at times, and a bother with my jests and pranks, but I usually mean well. Even with my stupid mistake with that one guy, my original intent was to invite him back, even pay for the fc room if he had one, but then all seven hells broke loose. I recognize my mistake, but I recognize that it didn't need to escalate like it did. It didn't need to even get to that point. When I asked them about what had happened to me joining on Discord, my client crashed. When someone else asked in the LS, I replied in a smartass manner, because smartass banter is my thing. Somehow, all of a sudden, that banter is toxic and cruel, despite having gotten laughs over the years? That doesn't seem right.

Of course the one person I've had trouble with since I joined the fc helps drive the "Aster is terrible" narrative. Also the "Auric is bad" because he has spent the past few years not getting what he wants. I tried to make clear with him my comments toward him have been out of friendly banter, but no. It wasn't meant to be. The thing is, my problem with him has always been his holier than thou, praise me and all I love (or else), attitude, his need to shut down people who don't praise him all the while doing the same things he criticizes them for (probably part of why Purp and Leo decided to try out another server/fc).

I knew it was a matter of time before he left, and a matter of time before the head girl of the lot decided to leave and power-play it by taking as many people of the fc with her as she could. I'd have loved to have done things differently, and I'd love to apologize to those actually hurt. But reading the chat log now available on Google doc for anyone to see that asks for the link? Now that I know one girl ignored my private message trying to make a case to her about possible forgiveness? Now that all I see is an angry mob sniping FLAME, our home, for members just because the lead and I are in it? Who even do I apologize to anymore?

And then a friend of mine, someone I have known for years and respected, advocated that I leave the fc or get kicked. All because I made a rash decision that was clearly the wrong one, and will be working to redeem myself over for the remainder of my time in the game, regardless of the intentions of several members of that LS. Yes, I made a mistake, and I'm sorry for it. But I don't see a crowd receptive to my good will, nor even the consequences they think they want. That is angry mobs for you, and I can only hope things calm down soon so I can at least seek forgiveness from some of them.

Sorry, I needed to rant.

I just had the most painful Puppet's run in my time playing FFXIV. Like, dude. I just... With seven new people spread through two alliance parties (not my own)? Somehow, day 1 went more smoothly. At one point we wiped to the third boss at 0.4% because we didn't have enough people to cover even a quarter of one mechanic, and that took about five to eight minutes after half the raid thought it was a sure wipe.

Very nice.

I need to clear Ruby Ex, SoS Ex, Emerald Ex, and Diamond Ex; and get those mounts. I plan to do that in the next couple months, but we shall see. My current count of 135 is not enough.

Emerald, Ruby and Diamond are all easy enough. I think Diamond is actually the easiest of the 3. But pugs have a hard time with limit cut.

SoS Ex I've cleared about 8 times, but I wouldn't say I know the fight. The second half of it is honestly kind of a mystery to me.
