I've been using Sansa Clips for the past nine years and have been pretty happy with them, though they seem to malfunction after 4-5 years.

With my latest one kicking the bucket and the model I'm accustomed to discontinued by the manufacturer, I'm in the market for something new.

Reviews for the successor products by Sandisk hint at inferior quality from a UX standpoint, so I'm also open to other brands.

Requirements:
* At least 8GB
* Obviously plays MP3s
* Saves where I left off when I turn it on/off
* Has physical buttons so I can manipulate it without having to look at it (rules out my phone, which also has USB connectivity issues with my OS)
* Doesn't have issues related to loading/playing long (see: as long as 12 hours) files, and can quickly skip forwards or backwards in time.

Minimalist interfaces, long battery life, equalizer functionality, small devices preferred.

Suggestions?
